Milleridge Baker

Does anyone have any experience with Milleridge Baker? I'll be meeting with them this weekend and wanted to know whether I have to search for a wedding cake picture or if they have a good selection of pictures. My cake came comes with my reception at the GW Manor. Can they basically do any design on a cake or do they charge extra? Help! I'm stressing.

I guess it doesn't matter what precautions you take, someone's still going to get the wrong impression and slam you to some degree. Here I thought I was being cautious and polite (and sure, I wagged my finger a bit, but it has been a little nuts here), and I'm taken to task by patty for taking those precautions.

They did a terrific job on our wedding cake. We had a chocolate cake with mousse filling. I had the "I Do" cake with candles and different size tiers, they charged extra for the 4th tier. I believe their packages only cover 3 tier cakes. On the outside of the cake we did a basketweave--which he was great at. They have very dated books as far as designs go. They told me to look for whatever I wanted and he would replicate it--and he did! Look around at some designs and bring some pics with you when you meet....All the best :)

How did your visit to the baker go? when is your wedding? did they tell you how far in advance you need to go? Laura

It went well. Unfortunately, I did not make an appointment and the baker wasn't there. I was able to take a look at the cake book there. Also, if you're interested in having fresh flowers on your cake, you could go across to the Milleridge florist to look at their cake pictures! I'm getting married 4/22/00 at the GW Manor. You should start thinking about the design and flavor of your cake before your meeting to discuss your menu.

I think that is a gift that most guys will appreciate:) For the kids there are lots of things you can do from something as simple as a goodie bag, or you can get them some outdoor type toys. A cute thing to do for a spring/summer wedding would be to buy little pails and fill them with small age appropriate toys and maybe a lolipop too. You could even write their names on them in paint pen.

Did they think that you were there too early? We are the week after you and can't imagine making a decision like that anytime soon- ALthough we are interested in a basket weave and have heard that the baker does a great one--- We went to the florist a few months ago just to get an idea and are probably not going to go with them-- who are you using Laura
