Milleridge Brides-Food tasting (long)

Milleridge Brides-Food tasting (long)

I went for a food tasting today to try to decide the menu and everything I tried was very good. We are having the 2 star menu and while they didn't give us a tasting of every single thing, we had enough to know our guests will be eating very well and kind of decided on the menu. The presentation was really nice too. They brought so much food, I was full when they brought the entrees. The entrees are really generous portions too. FYI - you can bring a table full of people with you. There was a family chowing down in the next room. They were not having a wedding there tonight, it was an organization party that didnt start till 8:00 so I got to show my mother around - she's really excited now. Regarding the DJ or band, I think you are better off having them right in the middle directly across the dance floor from the head table - they are in a good line of sight which is great if you're having a band and truthfully, I thought the area off to the corner looked too cramped with all the serving etc that goes on through the kitchen door there. That's just my opinion, it's not that it won't work off to the side but it provided a more balanced look. Any questions, just ask here or email me at [email protected]

Also, if you happened to have read an earlier message I wrote I mentioned that I am looking for a DJ. I know a DJ does not necessarily fit in with the Carltun but I always wanted one instead of a band.

SO glad to hear it went well--what dishes did you decide on ...

The salmon, the chicken francaise and either the prime rib or the sirloin. I will leave that one to my fiance to decide since he is the meat eater in the family. He's away but we will go back to the Milleridge next weekend to finalize. The crepe was delicious as the appetizer. I can't believe I'm getting married in a little over a month!

You must be so excited--- I wouldnt have even thought of the crepe-- I am a penne vodka fan but we will try it at the tasting---as for the meat i am clueless as well but it seemed like the chateau briand is our choice-- originally it was briand and only one other but we had them put braind and 2 choices in the contract so we would have the option--- did you try the cordon blue by any chance-- i think we will try that and the floerntine---did you pick your cake the other day??

I did try the florentine, it is stuffed with the same stuffing as the crepe so that is the only reason I would not choose it but it looked and tasted great. Since there are pasta stations at the cocktail hour, the thought I'd pass on the penne and the crepe really looked elegant.
Yes the chateaubriand sounds great but we would only have the 1 other choice and we definitely want to offer the 3. Good for you that it's in your contract that you get 2 more. Did they make you pay more for that or are you just much better negotiator than us?

I wonder if we could finagle(sp?) the vodka sauce for the pasta station and then get the crepe---
I bargained for the chateau plus 2--- I always feel the need to get something extra and it was so hard to get them to budge!!!

You can definitely get the vodka sauce at one of the pasta stations - I checked.
Too bad you aren't going that week, you could have popped your head in and said hello :o)

That is so good to hear---what were the choices on the appetizers? were there any different ones other than what was on the paper?
I swear after these weddings we could work at the Cottage--or become wedding consultants!!!

the penne ala vodka, the crepe, the fresh fruit, the asparagus spears, something else I think...

The asparagus was delicious but it was only 3 spears and it seemed like of paltry to me. The fruit, OK but not as an appetizer for us. And crepe really looked nice, I thought it was kind of different that what you usually see.
