Hi everyone! I have run into a problem with Milleridge Cottage...Our wedding is going to be Friday 9/26/14, ceremony and everything at Milleridge. We are planning on seeing each other before the ceremony for pics in Oyster Bay + the Planting Fields Arboretum. I contacted our consultant at MC because my soon to be mother in law is looking to plan our rehearsal, and we were told that MC basically does a 'run through' 5 minutes BEFORE THE CEREMONY...on the day of the wedding. This totally blows my mind. I understand that they are seasoned professionals and know every step of the way for us, but we are NOT seasoned professionals and I do NOT want to do my practice walking down the aisle the day of the wedding, in my dress, right before we do it for real-this just does not fly at all for me. We just want even a 15 minute walk through the night before, with our bridal party and parents, and then to do a rehearsal dinner. Our consultant told us she has to get back to us, bc only the maitre 'd does walk throughs, and she has to see if she'll come in to do one for us. The inner bridezilla in me is fuming...Anyone else have this issue? Was it solved? I feel like we're paying them over 20k for the most important day of our lives, and they can't give us 15 mins the day before? Effing BS. End rant....suggestions/ideas please!

Re: Milleridge Brides!!!! Rehearsal question!
I.think this is common when u get married at the venue honestly. But I think there is an easy fix, I would make an appointment with.MC during the week sometime when they don't have events going in....ask them to show you and fh or you and moh or u and fmil how the ceremony would go. And then you can show your bridal party before the rehearsal dinner. Maybe meet at a park near the restaurant and explain what you were told. It's not perfect bc you aren't in the venue I know but it's better then nothing.....

Re: Milleridge Brides!!!! Rehearsal question!
it's funny - i literally emailed our BM the other day about this and was told the same thing. he said he'd get back to me b/c he has to ask the maitre'd if she's available to come in sometime the week leading up to our wedding. I haven't heard anything back yet. but i could have written this same post. let me know what kind of response you get! we are looking for 15 minutes the wednesday or thursday before, likewise.

I agree with this. We're getting married at our venue on a Saturday night and I was told that we would do the rehearsal on Wednesday or Thursday before. I know those are nights they don't have events there, so that's why it's those days. Good luck!

Re: Milleridge Brides!!!! Rehearsal question!
We're a Friday wedding, but we're totally open to a rehearsal any night-they flat out said that only the maitre'd does the walk throughs though, and she's not there unless they have an event. They do have an event scheduled at 7:30 the night before our wedding, so I asked if the maitre'd could come in for our walk through to be around 6:30-6:45...she has to get back to me. I'll update after I hear. I really think this is ridiculous! :-/ Edited to add-what if we were adamantly against a first look? I'm sure many couples don't want to do a first look-how are they accommodated? Grrrrrrrrrrrr

did you email her directly or did you go through your banquet manager? we are also taking pictures beforehand, so i have it planned out to show up to the milleridge a half hour before guests arrive for touchups, etc... but now i'm not sure how that's going to work if we can't get a rehearsal. i don't want any added stress!

also maybe she'd be willing to come in for payment? lol is that something you'd consider? i wonder if that's something we should bring up to them? if i didn't have to shell out too much money i think i would do that, just to feel at ease the day of

Re: Milleridge Brides!!!! Rehearsal question!
My FH has been in 3 bridal parties in the last year and all of their ceremonies were at the hall... nobody had a rehearsal at the hall though. The bride and groom figured out who was walking in with who ahead of time and told the bridesmaids/groomsmen the day of the wedding. I think that is very normal quite honestly. I have only ever been to rehearsals at the church, but if the ceremony is at the reception, then we all just went to a rehearsal dinner and hungout without actually walking through anything

Re: Milleridge Brides!!!! Rehearsal question!
I emailed our bridal manager directly, then spoke to her on the phone. I would absolutely pay to have the maitre'd go through everything with us...it's not so much about not knowing what to do, it's just about envisioning it when I have a (somewhat) clear head and putting our minds at ease.

Milleridge Brides!!!! Rehearsal question!
As far as I know this is normal. My friend had her ceremony and reception at the light house at chelsea piers and the rehearsal was right before the ceremony.

Re: Milleridge Brides!!!! Rehearsal question!
I was a bridesmaid in June 2013 for my cousin who was married at Milleridge. It seems to be very common cause we didn't have any rehearsal before the actual ceremony. We also weren't sure if it would be outside or inside cause it looked like it was about to rain any second so we did the 'walk through' about 15 min before actual ceremony for outside and then ended up actually using the inside area instead. Everything was fine, but I remember thinking since the bridal suite was upstairs and the guests had already arrived and were waiting for ceremony to begin in the lobby, we had to walk downstairs through the lobby of guests to start the 'walk through' before the ceremony. I personally felt everyone seeing the bride, groom, and entire bridal party before the ceremony heading to the walk through ruined a bit of the 'magic' of seeing everyone for the first time. The actual ceremony itself was fine though.

This is my feeling exactly-- even though we're doing a first look, IMO, it's very different than pretending to walk down the aisle and such while already dolled up.I think it takes away from the moment
