Please tell me what you know about the Milleridge bakery and its cakes/wedding cakes.....
We are getting married there in the beginning of August and ordered two cakes from the bakery to 'sample' their cake (as it was not included in our tasting). One cake was absolutely AWFUL and the other was pretty bad too... now we are pretty bummed about the prospects of having a tasty (or even edible) wedding cake. I really didn't want to have to spring for a separate wedding cake from another bakery when it is already included in the cost of the reception hall.
The flavors we sampled were both whipped cream icing- one was chocolate cake with cannoli filling and the other was yellow cake with chocolate mousse filling.
I know that bakeries often make cakes well in advance of when the cake is actually served, but this was ridiculous...the cake was simply stale. Nothing was good about it- not the cake, the filling, nor the icing.
Anyone have any feedback? Please. Thanks!

Re: Milleridge Cakes
I will let you know after Saturday! I was told they make your wedding cake the morning of the affair, so I'm not so worried. Personally, I wouldn't ever consider getting cannoli filling anyplace other than a fantastic Italian bakery. To me it would be like ordering sushi at a Greek Diner. JMO

Re: Milleridge Cakes
My shower was there in May and the cake was delicious. It was chocolate cake, raspberry filling, and whipped cream. My family is also cake snobs, as my grandpa was a baker and everyone raved! Maybe it was just a fluke?!!

oh no What kind of cakes did you try? I went to the showcase around this time last year and tried a few the strawberry short cake was ok. Not delicious but it was good.
Then Vanilla butter-cream Chocolate cake Whipped cream and Strawberries
Then Vanilla Butter-cream Chocolate Cake Connoli Cream.
The least horrible one was the first. I am so worried now, especially since the other bride posted bad things months ago.
The canolli was gross i remember trying that. but maybe it has something to do with butter cream since they all have the same topping?also, are you doing a venetian hour? If so i wouldn't worry about it too much there is going to be so much other stuff for people to try no one is even gonna eat the cake

Thats what my mom said too. They are being really nice about it at the milleridge. They are going to make me another to try. They said since the new laws came out about no transfats, the buttercream recipe has not been as good. I will let you know how it works out. They suggested whipped cream, but then the cake cant be displayed durring the party because it may spoil.

Re: Milleridge Cakes
i might do fondant, but I think its extra money. They are checking for me. I dont know why, but I feel like in the beginning they said it was $400 extra. For that, I will just go to audrys bakery and get a good buttercream or Leonettis and get good fondant. I really have to see what the cost is and I will def keep you all posted!

No way it isnt extra. When I booked I specifically asked my bm Kristy and she said it was included as well as anything you design as long as it isnt too intricate
I personally dont like the way fondant tastes but i think it looks so much better than any other frosting. IMO it looks clearer and more finished.
