Mima - Can you help me?

Mima - Can you help me?

Mima I know you sing for weddings at church so I'm hoping you might be able to help me...

Do you know when the 'gathering song' is sung - before/after the opening prayer? And is it right before or right after, or are there things in b/w?

TIA!

I am not mima of course, but I used to sing for my church - and I am pretty sure the gathering song is the first song of the mass. very first song, i think.

So then after I come down the aisle - next is gathering song, then opening prayer?

BTW, it's just a ceremony and not a mass if that helps.

Also - for gospel acclamation, what can I put next to that in my program? My church just gave me some to pick form and I picked, 'If we love one another, God will live in us and that love will be strong.' But I have no idea where that is from or anything.

At our church we sing the gathering song right after the procession. You'll walk in... the processional music will stop, and then the singer will say, 'Please join in singing our gathering song, #444 in the hymnal, blah blah blah' but lots of parishes dont even DO a gathering song for weddings. If there is one, thats likely where it will be. BEFORE the opening prayer.

Regarding the Gospel Acclamation, usually the congregation does not sing the verse, they would only sing the 'Alleluia' part. So you could really just write 'Gospel Acclamation' in your program, or if you knew which one it was (maybe the Celtic Alleluia? Thats a popular one) you could put that. I wouldn't include the words to the verse.
