Welcome !!!! To the neighborhood!

NHP train station requires Parking vouchers that you may purchase from the NHP taxi stand (right next to train station cant miss it)
$3 per voucher. You scratch it off like a lotto ticket and put it in the window. You cannot park up close with these you must park in designated voucher spots further away from the train station.
Merrillon is off of Nassau Blvd. Anyone can park for free but it fills up at like 5am - sometimes if we go in super early, on a Friday or super late we find a spot.

Not sure about Mineola - I have never parked there If I have to take a cab home I usually take it from there.

FM if you need any more info on Frkl Square/NHP area.

The parking around Mineola is, in general, awful. I've lived a block from the train station for 2 years and once my friend was coming over for lunch actually had to turn around and go back to work because there was NO parking in a 4 block radius.

At the train station parking lot, you do need a resident permit. This is the area on the north side of the tracks. On the south side, there are a lot of parking meters and a parking garage. I think it's 25 cents per hour. If you're taking an early train, there are usually some spots a blocks from the train. There is a parking garage for Winthrop Hospital on 1st Street, but there are a lot of meters that are only 2 hours so, again, you need to get there before 8:30 if you want to find a spot. Hope this helps!
