Mini-CHCC Review
So I went to CHCC for a corporate event last night. As you all know, I'm having my reception there so I made sure that I was super critical of everything that went down.
I tried to keep in mind that there were 1200+ people there and there was also another event going on downstairs in the Emerald Room, but there were definitely some things that I think should be brought up with my Mait'r D (once I get to that stage). I've never been there for any event before so this was really my one chance to see and try it all.
We were in the Grand Ballroom AND the Starlight Room - the event was so large that they actually took down the 'wall' between the two rooms and made the room a big 'L' shape.
So there were tons of great things, but here are my critiques:
- In between CH and reception, there was bottlenecking in the stairway heading upstairs
- The salad was already on the table when guests first walked into the room
- the napkins were in the wine glass which (IMO) looked cheesy and cheapened the room
- They put salad dressing on the side which was great but then they took it away! It was so weird- - people were still eating their salads and they took away the little thing that held the dressing!
- We weren't given the option of what to eat for dinner but they gave us a chicken and steak duet meal - it was really good - REALLY good! But they didn't give us steak knives. Or ask how we wanted the steak cooked. That was a downer - but I think it may be because of the amount of people that were there.
- The doors to the ballroom were never closed - which I thought was weird - not sure if that was just b/c of the nature of the event, but I didn't like it at all
- I asked for tea with dessert and the waitress came out with one rumpled Lipton teabag. That is totally unacceptable for me - my FH's family is asian and british!
There were a few other things too that bothered me but I was really happy for the most part, I was just being nit-picky.
Hope this helps someone!
I took a bunch of pics with my phone and will add them to an album ASAP.
