mini getaway

Hey girls,
FH is coming home from Texas for good after 6 months of being away. His flight lands at 5 on Sat and this sounds a bit crazy, but I want to do something that feels like we are away on vacation with just each other for Sat night and Sunday so that we can reconnect after all these months apart. Time is limited so I'm looking for places/activities that are no more than an hour and a half from NYC. Oh, and I'm still recovering from hip surgery so nothing athletic.
Ideas??? TIA

Re: mini getaway

I would think after being away for all these months he may just want to stay home. You could make a nice dinner and dessert, drink some wine, play some board games and NO TV :)

We have a roommate so I wanted some alone time...but otherwise this would have been the plan!

Re: mini getaway

Back in January we were living with Fh's parents because our house was being completely remodeled..down to the studs. We needed to get away REALLY bad...it was a rough time...living with the in laws, planning a wedding with 260 people and completely renovating an entire house...so we went to Glen Cove Mansion for the weekend. It was reallly nice...we loved it. We really got a chance to reconnect and clear our heads. They have a pub restaurant upstairs and it was so uncrowded the weekend we went. We went to the pub both nights, drank it up and stumbled back to our room...haha!!

We also had breakfast in bed both mornings...it was awesome...I highly recommend it. We found a great deal on Travelocity...we got it for $99 a night. And, they also have spa treatments...we got a couples massage, it was nice, but not great...and certainly not worth $375!!! But oh well!!
