Mini-moon ideas needed

So FH and I won't be going on our honeymoon until about 6 weeks after the wedding. Does anyone have any good, close and inexpensive mini-moon ideas for 2-3 nights? We go to Montauk every Memorial Day weekend so that's out. I'd like to go somewhere that's no longer than a few hour drive at most. I'm open to NYC (maybe a show or 2, nice dinners, etc). Any ideas?! TIA

I'm taking FH to AC the weekend after we get married because we will have 2 months before our honeymoon. We got engaged there and haven't been back since, so I thought it would be nice.

What about Mystic, CT? I've heard it's a nice cute town with some nice touristy things

Niagara is BEAUTIFUL and I'm pretty sure there's a groupon for a hotel overlooking the falls. Kaw2Be mentioned Mystic--if you go there, definitely stay at Abbys Lantern Hill Inn. It's a beautiful little bed and breakfast. Newport, RI is great...also Martha's Vineyard is nice but close by :)

what about up in the catskills? my fav thing in the world is renting houses up there only like 2 1/2 hours away. http://www.vrbo.com/363428 we rented that place in Oct we'd wake up before sunrise every morning just to watch & take videos of it.

you can drive to this cute town Phoenicia too, go tubing or out to dinner etc.

We're doing Niagara for our mini moon. We booked independently, but there are always Groupons and LivingSocial deals for Niagara Falls hotels.

My wedding is the day before yours, and a lot of places we'd want to go for our mini moon (Lake George, Ocean City, even out on the east end of LI) have their prices jacked up because of the holiday. So we tried to stay away from beachy places.
