Mini- vent

I was at FILs last night and we were talking about wedding stuff and timing came up. And I said that the wedding ceremony starts at 730 and one of FSILs makes a comment to FH, not to me, but I heard it, saying that is is waay too late. This isn't the first time they have complained about the timing. The wedding will end at 1. Am I crazy to think that isn't late?

Why is it that people can not just keep their mouth's shut when they make stupid comments?!!!

Ok... I am doing the same thing. I have a 30 minute ceremony at 7:30 then the reception goes until 1am.

I personally think it is perfect. I won't feel as though I have to go out afterwards. However, I also have heard a lot of ppl saying its too late. Many ppl have said it is going to be a really really long day for me...

Tell them to suck it up.. its your wedding and you can do what you want.

Are you taking pictures before the ceremony? We are! We are taking pictures at 4 but are being picked up at like 3 to go pick up the boys and make our grand entrance to see each other.

well fh and i wanted a saturday night wedding but at the woodlands we couldnt start the ceremony until 7:30 which meant that dinner wouldnt have been served till 9:30 or so which we felt was late. And we didnt want ppl leaving right after dinner

We decided to do Friday night so we could do it an hour earlier.

That being said....plenty of ppl do weddings that late and its fine..it was just our preference to do it a little earlier. If you and FH like the timing of your wedding then dont listen to your FSIL's comments!!

mine is same time... if they are too old to stay out til 1 once and a while then tell them to stay home...

I have a similar issue, but the opposite b/c we're having an afternoon reception. The way I see it, is if people don't want to come (or stay in your case), that's their loss! They are missing it, not you!

It's a wedding and if you mean something to them, they will do whatever it is and whatever it takes to be there. It's not unreasonable at all!

Don't worry, no matter what you do, someone out there will find something to complain about. FIL, friends, whoever.

To be honest...I think it's a little late for children and people who go to be early. But, then again it is your wedding and your choice! If you have people that think it's late, they'll leave early...no big deal.

It is rude of people to talk about you in ear shot or anywhere but directly to your face.

Thanks girls, I totally feel better now. I am actually doing the same thing as you Jennifer (Pasta). Pictures before, somewhere around 3 or 4. This was actually the conversation I was having with FMIL which brought up the drama.

Its so annoying, b/c I just want the day to be amazing for me (obviously) but for our families too and when i hear their comments its hurtful.

I knew I couldn't be alone in my thinking! I hate when people make you second guess your decisions!
