Minor money freakout

Minor money freakout

Not a big deal, but I just need someone to tell me this is okay.

Just brought DH all of his presents for the rest of the year. ALL OF THEM AT ONCE, which is a lot of stuff and a lot of money (for us). But I got them all for 50% off, with free stuff thrown in, so it's a freaking great deal. And I can slowly give him the items as the celebratory days (birthday, holidays) show up. I already got him his anniversary present and he's already opened it (he thought the package was his), so I've already spent a good amount on him.

Still, my DH is my best friend and I tell him everything - I suck at keeping secrets and I just spent a significant amount of money. He would probably freak out if he knew. But we *can* afford it, it's just my entire budget for his gifts this year. And I KNOW he wants these things.

I just needed to vent, because part of me is like 'How can you spend that money! You don't have that money!' And the rest of me is like 'You do have that money and you made a killer deal and shut up!'

And the other part of me is like 'He's gonna open the box and see all of that stuff and the surprise will be ruined!'

ARRGGHH!

can you label the box 'Do NOT open!!!'

Then you don't have to worry about him seeing his stuff...

Hey, congrats on the great deal!!!

I think that was a good deal you got! If you were to buy those things individually, you would have paid a lot more, so you have saved money, and time from not shopping. good job!

You shouldn't freak out because even though it seems like you just spent a lot of money, you would've spent it anyway over the course of the year (and you would've spent even MORE because you wouldn't have gotten the stuff on sale most likely).

As for the box - tape it shut and label it 'winter clothes' or something like that so he won't bother with it.
Just don't forget about the box and then go buy him more presents

I just did that too--I was at the Coach outlet recently and all the winter scarves and leather gloves were over 50% off, so I just got cashmere scarves and leather gloves for my whole family for next year! But when you think about it, you would be spending so much MORE money if you waited til the actual holiday and then had to spend full price! I would much rather put out a lot of $ at once but know I got a great deal. It's like stocking up on groceries when they are on sale. But times 100!

I can relate.
FH's birthday was Saturday and I bought him his presents last year at Christmas time (taking advantage of the huge sales). But even saying that, I felt that I had to make sure he understood that I bought his gifts months ago - before we started to save for the wedding.

Enjoy the fact that you are done shopping for him for a while and he will enjoy getting the presents that he wanted when you give them to him.

I buy gifts ahead of time all the time - especially for my nieces and nephews. I wouldn't stress out about it, you just spent the $ all at once instead of splitting it up over the year. I think you did good!

You would have paid so much more if you got them all seperately, not only bc it was half off, but also bc you saved on gas, you saved yourself the time and hassle of shopping during the holidays! Good for you!

You should duct tape the box closed until you wrap it. If you have to open it with scissors, it will deter you from opening it early!

You could also wrap and tag the gifts now, so he doesn't get tempted to peek in the box.
