My mom went dress shopping today and she came home with a few options (all except one that she loved)...which is great, Im glad she found a dress she loves HOWEVER...its WHITE! she wanted my opinion on it first being that its the same color as mine..she wont wear it if I dont approve. She looks great in it...but do you think it will clash too much with my gown??? Is it against the rules for the MOB to be in white? BTW: she will be walking me down the aisle with my dad

Re: Minor problem...dealing with MOB dress..
Can she find out if it comes in another color? If the store she bought it from doesn't carry it in another color, maybe she can find it in another color ina different store or online?
I personally don't want anyone wearing white but me... especially since she is walking down the aisle with you.... I think her color should complement your dress, not match it. JMO, HTH
Good Luck!!!

i'd flip if someone came to my wedding wearing white, especially if it were my mom or FMIL. I agree...see if she can get it in another color.

My mom is wearing ivory (so am I) but I don't mind b/c she's not walking me down the aisle. Also, her dress style is completely different from mine, and I think it will be nice for me to share that color with my mom. But it's up to you- if you don't want her to wear white, then it's your choice, I'm sure she'll support your decision.

I am wearing ivory and my mom wants to wear this fancy ivory dress she already has and I told her NO!!! I don't think anyone should wear white or ivory to a wedding. That is for the bride to do!!!! JMO though.

I think your concern is definately justified. My mother is walking me down the isle as well, and i would not feel right about her wearing the same color as me. But that's just how i feel! If you are cool with it then GO for it!

I'm sorry but the fact that your mother could even consider wearing a white gown boggles my mind every woman since birth nows that is a big no no.

Oh no! it bothered her a lot...its just that she LOVED the design and it fit her PERFECTLY..so she brought it so I can see it when I got home today...and shes right..it looks amazing on her..she said she wouldnt wear it if it bothers me...shes totally understanding.

Re: Minor problem...dealing with MOB dress..
I'll be completely honest - most people will agree that no one at all should wear white or ivory to a wedding - regardless of who it is. Even if you are 100% ok with it - and it sounds like you aren't - I think that there will be people who will inevitably make comments about it whether to you directly or behind your back so as to not offend you. Do you want anyone making a comment about your mom trying to steal your thunder or her being inconsiderate etc? Obviously she's NEITHER, but it can be perceived that way.
I'd definitely try to see if they sell it in another color. I personally would not be ok with her or anyone else wearing white or ivory. If you are 100% ok with it, then follow your heart.

Personally I wouldn't want my mother to wear white. Just because there are so many other colors out there for her to choose from, why would she need to wear white. But if you're okay with it, that should be all that matters. Don't worry about what anyone else is going to say. But for me honestly, I'd tell her to either get the dress in another color, or keep looking.
