Miserable (long) (EDIT with ring size and vendor rant)

EDIT:

First of all, a big thank you and hug to all the girls who responded with comforting words and thoughts. I really appreciated it.

So...the first person who measured my size said I was a 6.

I am actually a 7.25! ***?! Maybe the ring width being somewhat wide made a bit of difference, but not a size and a quarter difference.

Just want to warn you girls to make super-duper sure you are measured for the right size when you go. I went to Good Old Gold per the positive reviews on this site, and the lady who measured me is the same lady who does the appraisals (can't remember her name). So just be on the lookout for her.

***

So, FH and I ordered a custom engagement ring and matching bands about a month or two ago, and they arrived today, and are absolutely gorgeous. However...

It looks like the jeweler I went to in order to have my ring size measured may have measured my finger incorrectly (how that could happen, I have no idea). The engagement ring and band for me are very, very small, and I can't imagine my ring size changing that drastically from the time I ordered the ring until now. I even have written down (by her) on the paper she gave me 'size 6 - 2 small shots,' implying that the size 6 may even have been a little big (and from what I remember, it was a tiny bit loose).

We're talking going from a little loose, to turning my finger purple. I am at a loss.

The band has a continuous engraved design around it, too, so don't think it could even be made larger.

I'm going to a different jeweler tomorrow to get my ring size re-checked, and to double-check the size of the rings they sent. My wedding is in TWO MONTHS. I am so miserable, there aren't even words to describe it.

Sorry girls, just needed to get it out there. Needed to write it down.

I'm so sorry this happened to you If she ordered the wrong size, would she be able to get you a new ring in time for the wedding?

I would call her and let her know how drastically different it is from the original one you tried on.

FH had a similar thing happen, he ordered my e-ring in secret, ordered a 7 (because he grabbed a ring I wear on my thumb, oops) but they sent him a 5.25 - my finger is a 6. Luckily the ring could be sized but the jeweler somehow confused 7 and 5.25? I think he read someone else's slip or something.

dont worry, just bring it back to them, 2 months is PLENTY of time. I was having work done on my ring up until the DAY BEFORE the wedding! so I know they can get ALOT done in 2 whole months!

Re: Miserable (long)

you can have the ring stretched up to a 1/2 size! FH and I got art engraved rings as well and that was my concern - any jeweler should be able to do it

Re: Miserable (long)

we got our from fortunoff and they ordered it way too big for my fiance - we were not happy and they re-ordered him one at no charge. this is something that is very important and you should be happy with it!

Did you get a hold of your original jeweler and tell them about their mistake? Can they get you a new ring in time fore the wedding?
