miss or ms?

miss or ms?

I am finalizing my guest list and need to know what to call an adult, single woman - miss or ms?

Does anyone know of any sites that I can reference to determine the correct answer?

I thought Miss was for 18 and younger, and that Ms was for any woman over 18.

thx! willow

I think most women use Ms.

I made all single adult woman Ms. The only ones I didn't were our 13 and 14 year old second cousins!

Miss is used for when a person is not married and Ms is used usually for an adult when you are not sure if they are married. Most adults go with Ms.

I used Ms for anyone over 18... For anyone under 18 I used Miss...

On this subject I just wanted to add, that on some questionable Mrs. vs. Mrs. questions I called the people and asked. I thought that instead of offending them I would do it this way. Of the few people I calle they all thanked me for thinking of them and thier feelings (these cases were newly divorced and newly widowed)

I agree with Anne. I would put Ms for anyone over 18 and Miss for under.
