Missing DOG! UPDATE!

Missing DOG! UPDATE!

One of our Neighbors came by about 10 minutes ago with a lost dog and she couldnt keep it in her apartment so he is with us with my dog.

He is a Beagle probably less then a year old. My neighbor walked around with him knocking and no one knows who he is.

If anyone knows someone missing a beagle in the Hauppauge area please let me know!

ETA UPDATE

So i called the number on the rabbi's tag and they gave me the contact information. The person did not answer his phone so I looked up the address and found the home number. The person I spoke with was the guys sister and he used to live with her but now lives in my development. Turns out the guy didnt notice the dog was gone! So the guys brother inlaw came and got the dog and he is going to keep it. The brother inlaw told us the guy is not very responsible and the dog was a friends dog that a friend couldnt keep. The brother in law has a big back yard and another dog so we were happy that someone who cares has the dog. So sad the guy didnt notice the dog was missing overnight.

Thanks for all your help.

Re: Missing DOG!

Did you check to see if he has any tags? He should have a rabies tag with a phone number for a vet - you can call them and they should be albe to find the owner that way.

Any phone number - you can also try to bring them to the police b/c if the dog was microchipped they should be able to scan him and find his owner.

Good Luck.

He had a rabbis tag thats it. I live in a huge development and he could live here but no one was looking. I think we are going to keep him overnight and then go to the office in the morning where I live. They have pictures of all the dogs.

Where is the rabbies tag from? There is no number? I don't know - I found a stray dog once and found the number for the place that gave him the rabbies tag and they were able to trace it to the owner. Most places are probably not open at this time anyway - it's nice of you to keep him overnight - I'm sure the owners will be so appreciative.

First of all I want to tell you how wonderful you are for taking care of this dog. I myself have found many dogs and I always shelter them and help reunite them w. their owners. My dog Jill ran away in November 2 days before thanksgiving. She was missing for 3 days. throughout our search, we ran into MANY people that said they saw her running around but never thought about grabbing her. In fact I ran into a family who had her in their house for a few hours, and once the father came home, that SOB kicked her out in the street. I honestly thought my poor baby had passed away due to the cold, or prob. got ran over by a car. I was miserable and didnt go to work for 2 days. Lucky for me, I ran into the family who found her minutes after that SOB kicked her out. My baby Jill is now back home w. me her Husband and daughter.

FYI: Most dogs have a chip inside their skin. All you have to do is take her to a vet. and they will scan her body. If she does have a chip, the owners info will pop up.

GOD BLESS YOU FOR TAKING CARE OF THIS POOR DOG!!!!

Re: Missing DOG!

The number on the tag says they are closed until 8:00 that is why I am keeping this dog in my home. He is so sweet and cute I could not bear to have him outside in the cold.

He seems very tired and thirst he drank almost a whole bowl of water and is sleeping a lot. Poor thing I feel so bad. He got up before and just started to cry he probably is so consused

ETA: if this was me I would want someone like me to help my dog he is like my baby.

That's very nice of you! I hope his owner is close by!

We found a little Beagle puppy this summer while walking. Some guy had her in the back of his truck; he had found her in a rundown junk yard that morning. He was going to 'take care of her' in the next day or so when he had time, which i'm hoping meant the vet or shelter. Anyway, i could tell he didn't want to be bothered with her and i carried her in my arms over a mile home, while FH took our 2 dogs on leash. I just fell in love with her, and after feeding her and giving her water, i started calling vets that may be open still because i wanted her checked out. When we took her in they said legally they needed to confiscate her and turn her into the shelter in the morning! I was devastated and so worried about her. They promised me they would check her out. We called the shelter for the next few days, and it turned out she was microchipped, to an owner in Queens! Other than that info, we never found anything else out other than they came and got her back, and that the vet never checked her out. They lied to me, maybe to make me feel better, but i would have paid them. If our dogs were lost and someone found them, i would be so grateful. I can't believe we never heard anything from the people, and i'm still angry that that poor little thing ended up in a junk yard!

Awh, what a nice ending to a sad story. It's so funny how things happen for a reason and now the dog has a loving home. Oh, I'm so happy. THank you for sharing the update.

Oh good! I'm glad the dog is safe. You did such a great thing by sheltering him all night. The poor little thing was probably so happy that someone like you was there to help him.

And shame! shame! on that careless owner! Seriously!!! Dogs are such selfless and loving creatures - how could you treat one like that - to not know he is even missing? I don't know what I would do if my baby was missing.
