Our ceremony is being held at the RH and everyone is saying that unless we see each other prior to, we are not going to get any good photos or we will miss our entire wedding. Is this true? See each other prior to is not an option for us - we want that 'moment' as I walk down the isle. Can anyone recommend a photographer that can accommodate us without pulling us out of the party all night long.

I think if you do pics with ur family, bridal party before the ceremony. And then do the ones with FH after you'll be fine.

This is exactly what we are doing! We will be with the photographer for a lil less than an hour after the ceremony. So we chose to miss our cocktail hour because it is sooooooo much more imporant to us to get the shots!! Your photographer will work this all out for you! We also wanted to miss the CH so we can make a grand entrance during the reception and stay hidden while the guest mingle amongst themselves!!

Re: Missing the shots...
it depends on the photographer.....my photographer told me she would like to spend about 2 hours with us for pictures - we would miss our entire CH and still not have enough time if we did them after the ceremony so we decided to see eachother beforehand - we want a lot of pictures and didnt want to rush at all....im sure you can take enough photos during your CH if your FH seeing you the first time walking down the aisle is more important....people do it that way and still get lots of nice shots, its just a personal preference - we wanted to take our time with photos and be done with them before the ceremony and we wanted to be at our CH.....do what its important for you as a couple and it will be fine!

As long as you have an hour CH you will be fine. Good photogs will be able to take all the portraits in that amount of time and you will only miss the CH and be there for the whole reception

2010 bride here:
like others said do the ones with your family & bridal party prior to the ceremony then do the ones with FH during the cocktail hour. if you give your photographer a heads up prior to that day they finish up really quickly. my friend who just got married had the same situation. so what we did for her was: the bridal party blocked her from his view then when we got kind of close we formed two rows (guys on one side girls the other) & he walked threw & she turned around. it was very dramatic & she said the pictures came out great. he even cried a little
