My FH has a bunch of single guy friends coming, and I have single girl friends coming. They don't know each other. I want to mix to make singles tables (where they all have some friends at the table), but he would rather keep his friends all together (mixing couples with single guys, etc), or even a table of just guys. What do you all think?

Re: Mixing single women and men at tables?
Oh god, please please please do not do this to the single people. I've seen it done so many times and they are ALWAYS miserable! It's hard enough, especially for a girl, to go to a wedding alone. Never mind when you're cast out of your friends table and relegated to a 'Singles' table for it.
If you're set on doing this, at least speak to the singles in question and get their feel for it before you do anything definitive.

Well, they would be with at least a few friends--I have three single girl friends from college going--how about putting them with like 5 single guys?
ETA: Better to have an all-women table and all-men table?

It depends on your friends - if they are really outgoing and are anxious to meet people I think about it. But tell them first so they don't feel llike they are being 'set-up'
But I agree with your FH about putting friends together with their friends. I know I wouldn't want to be seperated from people I know because of my dating status.
As an fyi, we had a few single people at our wedding and believe me, they found each other.

We sat a single woman at the table with a a single guy and guess what, they met and have been going ever since. So you never know how things are going to work out unless you try it.

I vote to put them with pple they know. At least in a table of ten, five men and five women who each (men with men they know and women with women they know) -- as a former wedding guest singleton NOTHING was worse than being assigned to the lone single dentist left in the area.

I went to a wedding and they had a single's table. One of the single guys whom I know met a girl there and they are going steady ever since. So I think it depends on your friends and the group that you are trying to sit together. Your wedding can be a matchmaking event after all...and if any singles get together and stay together....they will be grateful to you and your husband for being the place where they met.

I would sit them with their friends. Single people will find single people if they are interested and have their options open. Happened at my wedding - didn't work out but some simgles met up and spent the night partying together!

So it wouldn't be weird to have a whole table of women? Or 6 women and 2 couples?

Why not mix up the single women who knowe each other with single men who know each other. THat way mingling is an option but there are people they all know at each table.

That was the original plan but FH thought his friends might have more fun just with the guys (men... )....
