Just wondering what color your mom's are wearing for the big day? My mom has started looking for her dress and we are going together next week but she is insisting on wearing black!
My girls are wearing Eggplant, so I suggested some shade of dark purple would look nice, but she thinks black is more flattering. FYI, my mom is a very thin, petite lady that would look good in anything. I wish I looked the way she did now! haha
One my friends said that wearing black might look as if my mom was going to a funeral rather than a wedding.
What does everyone think? Thanks!

I also have eggplant dresses for the BMs. My Mom ordered her dress about a month ago and she ordered a wine colored dress. The color looks gorgeous in her.... I wanted her to wear a color that she felt flattering in.

My mom is wearing 'mushroom.' It's brown with a pink tint. I politely requested both my mom and FMIL not to wear black........they can always wear black.

I'm doing eggplant dresses as well and I'd like to see my mom in gold or brown as those are my accent colors, IDK though, to be honest, I don't really care and I know she won't wear black because she wouldn't allow me to have my BMs in black

ohh geeeezusss @ FMIL.
my FMIL is wearing navy blue and my mom is wearing a light lavender colored dress but in some lighting it looks grey... so i was told, i haven't seen the dress

my mom is wearing burgundy but its taffeta so it has like shades of blue hues in it when she moves.
my girls are in black and my MOH is in red.
thinsg have changed...black isnt morbid anymore...she can wear what she wants

I don't think your mom wearing black will look like she's going to a funeral. It really would depend on the dress and the accessories she chooses. My girls are wearing black and my mom is looking for like a slate color. Eggplant is nice with almost any color. With your mom being so small maybe tell her that the black doesn't come out right in pictures. It seems that's what she's scared of since she says it's most flattering. Tell her that you heard that the black against the eggplant will come out wrong in pictures and you heard suggestions of champagne and some other colors look better instead. It's not lying to your mom, it's just suggesting and you never know the eggplant next to the black might look too similar in some pictures depending on the lighting.

personally i dont like bm's or MOB/MOG's in black for a wedding at all. thats just me though. not that i dont like the color, but i just dont think its appropriate for a wedding ya know

My mom want to wear aubergine (a deep wine/eggplant color) or a hunter green. I only said no to brown/bronze because it blends in her with skintone/hair and I want her to stand out.
