mob dress help

my mom lost a lot of weight and below is a pic of her in her dress. however bc she was once overweight she is very self conscious of her arms and would only buy a dress that had a jacket. now as you can see with the jacket it makes the dress less flattering (at least imo it isnt as flattering). Mom agrees too and so she was going to ask the seamstress if she can take the jacket it to make it more fited (but its a loose sheer material so idk how that would look). I suggested having the seamstress make it into a shrug - even though that may mean cutting off the lace on bottom.

what do you ladies think? leave as is? have jacket fitted more or make jacket into shrug?

she will NOT wear the dress without anything covering her arms....

I was thinking just this. I think the length of the jacket makes it look a little less flattering, not the jacket itself. I would suggest doing just that...shortening the jacket to make it a shrug, and then shorten the sleeves as well. Perhaps and elbow length sleeve...I think that will lighten it up a bit. Perhaps they can use some of the lace they cut off on the upper part of the sleeve or jacket.

I can understand about the sleeves, I am pretty much the same way. I think she looks AMAZING, btw, but since I get where she's coming from, I'd find a way to re-work the jacket.

first all all I think she looks beautiful without the jacket but I know how she feels because I have big arms myself.. How about a scarf or maybe they can make cap sleeves..

My mom is the same way! She hates her arms and would not wear her dress with out a jacket. I wasn't crazy about the jacket that the dress came with so we actually bought a totally new one in the same color as the dress. Her jacket now is cropped so that it only goes to right under her chest, this was we can still see all the detail on the dress
