MOB dress help needed

Have any of you found shops that have nice MOB gowns that do not look like tents? Also, are you coordinating your mom's or FMIL's dress with the bridal party gowns ?Is black okay at a black tie wedding? Lots of questions and little time.

Black is fine, so long as the bride doesn't mind. As for coordination, again that is up to the bride. The only thing I did was not have my Mom or FMIL in the same colors as the BM, or each other. my sister is my MOH so i also didn't want my moms dress to clash with hers. As for places to go, i went to Metamorphosis in St. James, and bridal elegance (near Commack)for my FMIL. my mom got hers from a place in great neck but i don't remember the name- the brand is Jovani.

I said no black for the mom's. I just think a little color is nice for pictures. My mom and FMIL both chose (independently) wine/eggplant colored gowns. I havent seen both, but am hopeful that they coordinate.

Try Totally You, Nordstrom, Lord and Taylor, and Estelle's.

my mom is wearing black and my wedding is not black tie. I didn't have an issue with it.

nordstroms has a gorgeous gown selection you should check out there!

It all depends on her budget. If she doesnt mind price, try some boutqiues/salons. Bridal world had some MOB dresses.

Estelles had a ton. The only thing I would say is have her pick a color that is not the BM's color. Blk is safe but see if she likes color.

My mom got her dress at Totally You in Bellmore. So not a tent looking dress!

Not the closest picture, but you can see my mom's dress here:

my mom, grandma, MIL, and one of my aunts all got their gowns at Bridal Elegance in Huntington

ITA with the above - black is fine as long as you don't mind.

your mom, IMO, should 'stand out' - so my mom wore silver and my grandma wore taupe/gold - my BMs were in cherry, and my MIL and GMIL wore navy and cornflower blue respectively - they wanted to match

my mom just got her dress at village bridal in babylon...they had a nice selection and many non-tent dresses...she does whatever she wants lol so she didn't take my bm colors into account...she ordered hers in bordeaux and my girls are in seafoam/peridot...i think it'll be fine. i think hers is a jovani. its very flattering on her.
