MOB Dress --- ISSUES

MOB Dress --- ISSUES

After stressing over my mom and FMIL not having their dresses, they finally got them this weekend from Sugarplums in Lynbrook. MOB and FMIL both had different sales ladies and my mom's just happened to be the rude one. Even after my mom told her what she was looking for she continued to show her things out of her price range and totally not her style. Eventually both mom's found dresses that they liked and bought them and took them home in the same day. Now this is where the problems comes once we got the dresses home, i searched them on the internet to see who the designer was because Sugarplums said they can not tell (nor can they tell you what size you are). When I looked at FMIL dress online her dress was not the color that the salesperson told her it was. They told her the color was a sage green like she wanted but it was really grey. My mom's dress when we took it home and really thoroughly examined it has some beads falling off or pulling. My mom is really upset and wants it fixed or a new dress but I am afraid they are not going to do anything for her. Has anyone else had similiar issues with Sugarplum?

My mom got her dress there. I was also kind of annoyed that they wouldn't tell us the designer. But she did have some loose beads and they gave her the extra ones that it comes with and told her the seamstress would fix it.

Just call them and be overly nice, and I'm sure they will either fix it or give you the extra beads. Even though you will want to yell at them, be extra nice! In my experience that is the best way to get them what you them to do for you (even if they are wrong).

Good luck and let me know how it works out!

I am sorry to hear this has happend to your mom and FMIL.

Fortunately my mom did not get her dress from there BUT we did go there and fell in love with a dress of theirs. I heard that Sugar Plum was not great for customer service. They also cut the tags out of the dress and put their own tags in this way you cannot tell who designs them. When we asked who the designer for the dress was they told us that they were specially designed just for them. The dress my mom was looking into buying was being discontinued according to the sales lady and she would have to buy the dress off the rack. Some of the beads were missing on this dress too. They wanted to charge her full price of $720 and not even discount it for purchasing it off the rack with beading missing. They told us that they had the missing beading b/c it falls off in the box sometimes and that the place next door can sew them back on.

Honestly, I hated Sugar Plum's customer service and am glad we didn't purchase the dress from there. I couldn't believe when I came home that day and saw that they listed the actual designers on the website yet lied to us about the dresses being made specifically for them. some of the ladies were just rude and wouldn't even let us put a deposit down to hold the dress. I cannot tell you how stuck my mom was on this dress but eventually we found a different dress elsewhere at a store that was more reliable.

I am so sorry this has happend to your mom and FMIL. I would call them and give them a piece of my mind and tell them you want the dress fixed at no charge.

After our experience at Sugar Plum, I would never recommend them to anyone.

My mom ended up getting a dress at Omnibus in Babylon and their customer service has been nothing less but amazing. If FMIL or your mom is able to return the dress, I would call Omnibus and ask them if they can get the dress for you. They really are very reasonable with their prices and their customer service is fantastic.

Good luck and I hope everything works out for you.

I would call and make sure on the color and definitely make them fix the loose beading. What have you got to lose. You already bought the dresses. I just wouldn't go back after this obviously. JMO

We went to SP and didn't have a bad experience with them, we just didn't buy anything because the prices are so high. We went to My Daughter's Wedding in Great Neck and the dressed are half the price than SP, and the dresses are soooooo much nicer.

I haven't had any experiences with this store but I am soooo sorry that this has happened to you. I'm sure that if your mom calls them they will be able to help her out. Atleast, maybe give her a new dress. Good luck with everything.
