where is a good place in brooklyn or manhattan to look for MOB dresses. my mom doesnt like the traditional kind.....so somewhere a little more modern/youthful but still sophisticated and glam. :) thanks.

My mom wanted a MOB dress that didn't look like the matronly, old-lady dresses that were out there. She ended up getting her dress from the Jade by Jasmine collection - ordered it through Macy's in Manhasset (they price match) but tried it on at Bridal Reflections.

You will really be suprised what is out there for Moms. There are a lot of beautiful dresses that aren't the long skirt and oversized blouse look that you think there is.
Jade, Jasmine, Caterina, Montage are all great designers for mothers.

I got my gown for my son's wedding at Doris Fashions on 18th Ave. & 68th Street and so did the MOG and sister of the bride. It is a small store, but they have a huge selection. Ask for Maria to be your salesgirl. FYI - I, too, did not want an old lady dress and neither did the MOB and we all got beautiful dresses at Doris with reasonable prices. Also try Valelntina's on New Utrecht Ave & 77th Stree, Lestan's on Ralph Avenue.

i looked at the Jade by Jasmine website and i LOVE it. thank you! i will also look at Valentina's because i've heard of it before and its right in brooklyn. kleinfelds is also on the list and so it the botique in manhattan. thanks so much for all the recommendations!

valentina is great I went there the other day with mom had a nice selection and the owner is a designer and has a line of dresses
