Fmil sent me an email last night saying she found a dress and its turquoise (the color my mom wants to wear)…I feel bad bc my mom is not picky about anything in life and this is one thing she’s been saying she wants ever since she started talking about her dress Do I tell my mom that fmil found a dress and she wants turquoise too and it’ll be nice that they’ll coordinate? (i don't really care too much if they're wearing the same color although i didn't orig. picture that) Do I tell fmil that’s the color my mom wants and risk her feeling bad and having to rethink her dress? Ughh both my mom and fmil are so sweet and I don’t want either one of them to be upset…I don’t know who to talk to first, what would you do?

oh hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...i mean if your mom isn't picky, maybe go with her and try on a bunch of different dresses and see..i mean i wouldnt care if my mom and fmil wore the same color, if it was the same dress, that would be weird haha. maybe they are similiar in color, not exact? did you see both?

no, i didn't see either...my mom doesn't have her dress yet and fmil is new to email and maybe she tried to attach a pic and it didn't go thru
i guess ill tell my mom that fmil got turquoise and see what she says...

it is in the ettiquette books. The FMIl is not supposed to get her dress until the MOB chooses her dress and color.

OMG! I had the same problem!! My mom had ordered a teal dress by Jade and over a month later, I got an e-mail from my FMIL saying she found a dress by Jade in teal! She couldn't remember exactly but thought I told her that my mom had gotten that color. Ugh duh! That's because I did and even sent her the picture of the dress!
My opinion was the same as you- I could care less what color each of them was wearing and I was not about to pick a fight with my FMIL over the color of a dress. But my mom was very firm and threatened not to come to the wedding (crazy, I know). I felt uncomfortable bringing the subject up so I had my FH talk to his mom. She actually went to the store that weekend and changed her dress color to cranberry.
If FH is close to his mom, have him say something. It's only going to look bad for your FMIL because everyone knows the bride's mom picks first.

i don't think it's a big deal if they wear the same color unless either of them has a problem with it. my aunt and my cousin's MIL both wore gold to their wedding and it looked nice that they coordinated. I don't have any pics of them together from the wedding, but here they are separately.

haha omg i can't believe you had the same problem! ughh i remember my mom bringing it up to FMIL that she wanted a teal/turquoise dress ... o mannnn
i said something to FH after i read her email and he's like 'so what, they'll just wear the same color. its not a big deal' idkkk why im stressing this so much
