MOH

MOH

So everytime I talk to my MOH about fh and I getting married and wedding planning and all that she makes some kind of comment about me being such a 'young' bride, by the time we get married I will be 25. I never thought being 24 and engaged was all that young. The other day she was saying how everyone at my wedding will be black out drunk because it'll be such a 'young' wedding. For starters fh isn't that young hes 31! lol
Idk what the deal is but its starting to bug me. Is this her way of trying to tell me she doesn't think I should get married?

I'm so sorry you have to deal with this. Maybe you should talk to her and let her know this is bothering you? Since she is your MOh, she is going to be very involved and it might be good to address this in the beginning.

HTH!

Re: MOH

Could your MOH be jealous? I just turned 25, FH is still 24, and no one has said anything about us being too young - and with veryyy outspoken families, I'm surprised. It sounds like maybe she's trying to rain on your parade because she might wish things in her life had fallen into place at a young age. Whatever the reason, I'm sorry Hopefully she'll snap out of that rude streak.

Re: MOH

First of all, is your MOH married? If not, it could just be sour grapes! She really isn't being supportive at all.

My MOH was 21 when she got married, and had a 2 year old at the time. She always makes comments about being happy that she was such a young mom and how she has the energy to be around her (soon to be) 4 children. I'll be 28 when I get married (UGH!) and want to start a family not too long after, but it does bug me that she says those things, like I won't be a 'young' mom. So I can completely see how you feel.

Honestly, I would just ignore her comments. Obviously she has something up her butt for no reason. As long as you're happy - that's all that matters!

Shes not married but shes been with the same guy since her last semester of high school. She is two years younger than I am. Whenever I ask her if she thinks her and her bf will talk marriage soon she always says oh no I'm way too young maybe in like five years. That's fine for her if that is what she wants, but FH and I have been together for two years already and we both know what we want, but why should I wait? Besides he's not getting any younger Me on the other hand I'm staying 25 forever! lol Thanks for the support girlies

Ok I know what it is! I bet this is the bf saying they are too young to get married anytime soon! I saw this with a former friend. She used to say all this mean stuff (like when I moved in with FH all I heard was 'oh why would he buy the cow when he can get the milk for free?' 'I'd NEVER move in with my bf before we're married!') when in reality her BF didn't want her to move in with him and has NOT talked about marriage. She's 3 or 4 years younger than me, but they've been together 5 years.

Like I said, don't worry about her. She has a bug up her butt.

Re: MOH

everyone is different... i will be 32 when we get married and fh will be 33, and we have been together for 11 years. I personally could not see either of us getting married when we were 25 but WE were not ready.

that being said my FBIL got married at 25 to the girl he dated in hs, together for 7 yrs. they WERE ready to get married.

if she cant be supportive you need to tell her to politely shuttie and get over it.

you get married whenever you want!

This. I have a friend who was with her bf for awhile and whenever marriage was brought up she kept saying how she's not ready yet and maybe down the line when they're both a little older they'll think about it. Well a month later he proposed and all of a sudden she changed her tune.

Just stay strong and dont doubt yourself. Everyone is in different stages of their lives at different ages and sometimes people just dont understand. Me and FH are 24, he will be 26 and I will be a week from 26 when the wedding comes, which I think is a fine age. Don't let it bother you too much. But if she is your MOH, she should be happy for you and supportive.

Re: MOH

I'm 21, almost 22 now and my FH just turned 28 in January. I get comments all of the time that I am too young. Not so much from family but from the women that I work with. They will talk in front of me and be like, 'I don't know why these girls these days rush into getting married. Throwing their youth away so soon.. I waited till I was X age and blah blah. And then they tell me that I should wait and stuff. I hate it, that might have worked for you and your husband, but this is my life and I know whats best for me and what will make me happy. I've been with my FH for 3.5 years now, and by the time we get married it will be 5.5 thats a lot of time. If you know, you know and I don't see the point in waiting around till OTHER people think that I'm old enough to do something. I wish people would mind their own business.

Unfortunately she posted later that they broke up. I am wondering if maybe her MoH could see something was wrong and it wasn't so much about age? IDK, very sad situation.
