I'm the MOH in my SIL's wedding this year. I've never been a MOH so I need some help with what my duties should be. I live out of state so it's hard to be as involved as I'd like to be and I'm also not friends with any of the other BMs so we don't really have any contact with each other. I've been helping as much as I can with all of her wedding planning so far, but I know I need to plan the shower and bachelorette party. How much do the BM's usually help with this or is it all up to me? How far in advance do you usually start planning these things? What else should I be doing?
Sit down and discuss with your SIL what it is that she expects of you. Let her know if there's anything that's just 'too much' for you to handle. Keep the lines of communication open for an enjoyable experience on both parts!!
You should also be in contact with her mom for planning the shower. And her FH's mom might want to be involved as well. Ask your SIL for her BMs contact info and be prepared to take on a leadership role.
