MOH Issues

MOH Issues

ok i just need to vent . i am not having a bridal party just a MOH. i haven't started to actively dress shop. So tonight my mom and my FMIL are going. I asked my sister (MOH) if she wants to come, she said 'i'll probably come i will let you know' . aka.. NO

whenever i bring up shopping she tells me her days off. so basically what she is saying is that i have to take off of of work to go shopping for HER dress. she tells me she rather go on her day off or when her son is done with school. Mind you he is FOURTEEN YEARS OLD!

Why is she being so difficult !! she is my sister for crying out loud. ALSO SHE WORKS PART TIME AND HER JOB IS 5 MINUTES AWAY
She also makes comments that she doesn't want to spend alot. I know money is tight but i also don't want her to get a dress that its going to fall apart.

i work full time and commute into manhattan and still make it to go week nights.

I was in her wedding years ago when i was in my twenties. i was barely making ANY money and i made no comment about how much the dress was. i event paid to get my make up done. went into brooklyn to shop. i was very accomodating.

sorry if this is a bit long.. but i thought i was avoiding this drama by not having a bridal party. Plus she is my sister !!!! i would think she would be more excited !!!!!!!

thanks for listening

I am so sorry you have to go through this. I know it can be hard.

Re: MOH Issues

So sorry to hear this But, I'd have to say one thing you're lucky about is that she's your sister and not just a friend. 'cause I would get on the phone and tell me sister she's being a b!tch! I can't do that to my friends w/o being hated or called a bridezilla. Pick up the phone & tell her just what you told us. HTH

Re: MOH Issues

Don't stress yourself over it.
I asked my sis (MOH) to pick her own dress. I didn't care what she picked as long as the color was appropriate for the fall. She and I have similar tastes, so I had nothing to worry about.
She's a stay at home mom, so this way she was able to go on her time.

It took her sooooooo long to pick a dress, but I didn't let it bother me. I had my dress, and that was the most important.

I like the dress that she chose, and the color is great to.

As for your dress shopping, your mom will be with you, and that is what should be important. If sis can make it, great, if not, she looses out on the fun.

I soooooo know what you are going through! My sister is my MOH and I've been having the same issues.

I'm sorry you are having to deal with this, I finally called my sister and told her we have to get this done and she finally listened. Hopefully your sis starts to listen to you.

Re: MOH Issues

i hear ya... thanks everyone

see the problem i have my sister... when she needs something she EXPECTS everybody to drop what they are doing to help.. i.e. computer problems, plumbing.. My FH is very handy & so nice that he WILL drop everything BUT when somebody needs HER its when she has a chance .. she will help you. not anytime sooner

UGH.... don't worry i will handle her. next time she has a problem.. it will have to wait until my next day off !!

happier note... looking forward to tonight. cross your fingers that i find the dress of dreams!!!!

Keep in the back of your mind that you need to keep your days off to do wedding related stuff.

Im sorry you are dealing with this...my MOH did next to nothing for my wedding! I dont know if thats a normal thing but I know that if I was her MOH I would bend over backwards to help her

Re: MOH Issues

Weddings do not always bring out the best in people. A couple of ideas about dresses........pick a color and let her pick out her own. IE: say a floor length black dress. The she can pick the style and amount but be clear of your expectations. A formal or unformal dress and include length. Or try David's bridal. My sister's dress was awsome and cost $110.00. I hate to say this but she's your sister and no you should not bend over backwards but this is not the time to declare war either! Try to meet her half way and if all else fails at least you can walk away and know you tried!!! Good Luck
