I am married already, married by a reverand at my hall...even though my groom and I are both catholic, our marriage will not be recognized by the church.
I am my friends MOH, and she says her catholic church needs my sacramental certificate from my marriage -otherwise I can't be her witness. I have never heard of this -is this the case everywhere? Is there anything I can do?

Re: MOH paperwork?
What happens if you pick a MOH who is not married? They couldn't present a marriage certificate! I would double check with the church.

If your not married, I believe your attendant would need a letter from their parish stating they made their sacraments -like communion and confirmation....

Re: MOH paperwork?
fh and i are getting married at a VERY old fashioned traditional catholic church. they needed both of our paper work and only asked if both of our witnesses were catholic. they are going on our word. they never requested anyone else for paperwork-i haven't heard of that before.

Re: MOH paperwork?
Does the Best Man have to produce the same paperwork? Because my dad's best man was Jewish, and they were married in a Catholic church. That was 25 years ago, but it doesn't make sense to me. Maybe every church is different?

Re: MOH paperwork?
We got married at a Catholic Church and we didn't need anything from our MOH or BM. They were both Catholic but, we were never asked if they were or needed to provide records of their sacraments, we only needed to provide records of our own sacraments.

Re: MOH paperwork?
Ok glad to hear this, i mean seriously that would be very wrong to say you can ONLY have a catholic MOH, and if she is married she HAD to get married in a catholic church.

Re: MOH paperwork?
she probably can just pick a different witness to sign the marriage certificate.

Re: MOH paperwork?
I just talked to my mom who considers herself religous -she said that it depends on the diocese. She said the only time she was asked to produce information was for our godparents, and even then, only one god parent had to be catholic. This is a church in Conneticut, so hopefully it won't apply to many of you girls...

That's a great idea, I wonder if this is all it will take?
