ok so Im not one that has a ton of GF's and Im having a major issue picking my MOH
My sister is 14 and she is just too young for the responsibility , plus we arent really close. She will be a Bm but not MOH
I have one close GF and I really close with FH sister who is like 38. The problem is I cant decide which to ask. My friend is the GF of my besstttttt guy friend and they are both in med school so it is not exactly like she EVER has time to do anything. Also, not to sound mean, what happens if they break up??
Rob sister would be great but she lives in NJ and wouldnt be able to do much either. I also feel bad asking her becasue she has dished out ALOT of money for other friends weddings and junk.
I just cant decide and it is driving me nuts... what would you do???

Re: MOH question
I too don't have sooo many friends... I just have a few close ones. I chose my sister as MOH, which was a given, because we are extremely close. However, I chose her knowing that my sister doesn't exactly have extra money to throw around. She knows that I chose her because she is my best friend, and I wouldn't want anyone else standing up their with me (besides FH, lol). I have made it very clear that I don't care if she throughs a bridal shower in her backyard, or if the bachelorette party is just 4 girls going out to a bar. Choose who you feel comfortable with, who you feel closest with, no matter what the circumstances... and then make it fit for them... you'll be happier that way. Good luck.

Re: MOH question
If you're getting married in July 2006, you can put the decision off for a while -- maybe until July 2005. That will give you time to think about it and understand everyone's situations by then.

I dont know what I would do... even at 14 would your sisters feelings be hurt that you choose your fsil as the maid of honor instead of her? Also your not close right now.. probably b/c of the age difference ( me and my sis are 10 years apart) but she still asked me to be her moh and I was only 16. It meant the world to me. Plus she would have your mom to help her along the way. I think down the line you would be sorry if you didnt pick your sister ( out of the options you have)

Re: MOH question
I too don't have many close friends. As the years have gone on, people have fallen by the wayside and I just haven't found perople that I completely click with.
My MOH (only bridal party member) lives in MA and has a sixth month old. My mom is deceased and my aunt is getting wackier by the day. My MIL so far is pretty good.
Think of it this way, sometimes it's easier to do it all yourself (yes, I know it's stressful and time consuming) but you don't have to hear other people possibly complaining or letting you down. You save a lot of drama. JMHO

It is a difficult decision but I agree with Soon2bMsz... I think in the long run you will regret not asking your little sister - who by the way will be 16 by the time of your wedding and believe me... she will change a lot from now until then.
I think that in time it will become more meaningful (for you and your sister) if you choose to have her as your MOH. Think of how proud and special she will feel. How much more special it will be to her than to FSIL (not to knock her - she is special too but in a different way - and older so she will understand better).
I hope that helps.

Re: MOH question
Thanks for the opinions guys but I will NOT regret not having my sister. We figth constantly and she already knows that she will be in the BP but not the MOH and she is fine with it. If I ask her that means my mom will have to foot the bill for all the stuff like the dress and shower and other junk and my mom is trying so hard to make ends meet as it is, I dont want the extra burden on her. So really.. it is between the two I said and I dont know which to pick.
