Mohegan Sun

Mohegan Sun

So here I am thinking I'll take FH away for a weekend to Mohegan Sun (we've never been).. any weekend coming up.. and the room prices made my jaw drop. $399-$499 a night! Is that the norm? I know people that go all the time.. I can't believe they are dropping that much $ on the room! How would they have any $ left to gamble. Is AC any better? For those prices I'd rather stay in NYC. I might have to rethink my surprise weekend.
Does anyone know of a lodge type place w/ fireplaces.. romantic getaway?

most people get comp. rooms for going there so often so the rooms that they do have are very expensive. You can probably find a hotel really close for much cheaper.

shuttles to mohegan can be a challenge sometimes. DH went on an impromtu trip 2 years ago and stayed at the MicroTel, very small. difficult to get a shuttle and cab, it was a 45 min minimum wait at 3:30am so we walked the hour back, up steep hills.
we are staying at the Foxwoods 2/13 for $125 in the petquot towers. did you call them? ac, we stay off the strip at the trump marina for free usually during the week, but been getting free comps for fri too. $99 for 2/13.

thanks for the replys. I wanted to get away more for the romance and night life than the actual gambling factor. I was hoping to book a couples massage ect.
I'll give it some more thought.

somebody i worked with stayed at a bed and breakfast in the mystic area in december. she said it was really nice and she would go back. i don't think it's all that far from either mohegan sun or foxwoods. here is the website Inn at Harbor Hill

I've done the B&B thing before... but if you've ever stayed in one.. there really is no privacy if you know what I mean. I could hear someone coughing from down the hall... wonder what they all heard coming from our room

oh and yeah.. now I'm remembering the creaking iron bed too!
