MOLD..........

Anyone know who I can call for someone to come in and see if we have mold

sorry Diane...I don't know anyone...but I was talking to a neighbor and she said never tell your insurance company about this...they will cover it, but they may drop you and it will stay with you even if you move out of the house...


she is being dropped...it could be different in NY...bu I'm not sure I would risk it...or find people in NY who have tried to get Mold damage covered...

We are not sure. Hubby feels he smells whiffs of it around the house. There are certain things that get mold on it.
Hubby is getting periods where he gets sick, and his allergies kick in
We have a dehumidifier running constantly in our basement.
Hubby thinks it might be in the walls, but not sure where to start.
He called someone, and they said they will take air samples, and that costs anywhewre from $300-700. But they dont fix it.

Purchase a few Damp Rids at Lowes/Home Depot. Place them around the house in corners and inside the closets. See if they are filling up with water or not. We had a problem with our A/C unit putting too much 'water' into the air this summer and the Damp Rids helped A LOT..and were not expensive.

Also check around the moldings in your home. If you have mold chances are that is where it is growing. Also, feel the floors- are they damp?

You can have a crack in your foundation which can let water inside and mold can form. It is very serious though. I wouldn't put a claim into your insurance until you know for sure if you have a mold problem or not. You might be able to call the local EPA and ask them about services to help you figure this out.
