Re: Mom as a MOH
FH's dad was actually a little insulted at first when he wasn't my FH's best man. At heart, I think it's wonderful but from a logical standpoint, and this is what I said to FH, 'what is your dad going to do? walk you down the aisle and then run back for the MOH?'
There are no set rules though. You should do whatever you want. I'm just giving you my spin on it from a logical standpoint, but pay no attention to me. Do what makes you happy.

Re: Mom as a MOH
my friend actually asked his father to be his best man and his father said no.....he already has a title and a role to play, that being father of the groom....i have to say i agree.....granted it is your wedding and you may do what you want, but the parents of the bride and groom already have a title and already play a role in everything...thats just my opinion...but i wanted to share :)

Re: Mom as a MOH
one of my cousins (who i might add DID NOT invite me to her wedding although she invited my mom AND grandma AND we all lived in the same house at the time.. ) did this.
i was considering it too. i have no real MOH. no sisters. no best friend other than FH. but i kinda feel that mom already has a special part in the wedding. we are jewish so shell be walking me down the aisle along with my dad anyway ..so i havent really decided about that yet. i feel like its a nice gesture esp cause im an only child so growing up mom was def as much a friend as anyone, and still is. sooo i think its a nice idea..

I love the idea and see nothing wrong with it. I think most people would respect that you did that and that you wanted to honor her in that way.

Re: Mom as a MOH
my cousin had her mom as the MOH...and she had 13 other bridesmaids as well....she was just the closest to her mom I guess...the mom wore her own dress, but just stood up at the alter for the whole ceremony...it was nice but a little weird since she has so many bridesmaids.

Re: Mom as a MOH
My cousin did this. Her mom was her Matron, while her half-sister and myself(8 months shy of my wedding) were her maids of honor
