Mom Didn't Like my Hair Trial!

OK - those of you who saw my pics from my trial from this weekend...(it's about two pages back) I emailed my mom the pics (she's in Florida) and she didn't answer me back so I emailed her and said - you didn't like it?? and this is what she wrote...

I didn't love it to be honest, the first view with your hair tight back didn't do anything special for you I felt. you have a beautiful face, and always look pretty, but I don't know, just love your hair down, or partially down. sorry it's not a done deal yet I'm sure you wouldn't want me to lie.........love you, not trying to hurt your feelings, but don't you expect the real reaction from me???????


Now I am starting to doubt the hair style too - I really like my hair better down too but it's going to be August, and i don't want to be all hot and sweaty because my hair will frizz! I figured that a strapless dress would also look better with hair up and off your shoulders - I don't know what to do now!

first of all i think its great that your mother would give you such an honest reaction...and in such a nice way! you're lucky to have her!!
second of all, i loved your hair and i thought you looked gorgeous!
it's hard to picture things in stages though, and i think that once you can see all of the pieces together - the hair, the makeup, the dress, the veil, etc....it will all make sense and it will all look perfect!
and i also think that for august, you would probably want your hair all up! i'm sure i would because i get cranky in the heat! (hence the april wedding )

I had a similar experience. My mom didn't like my hair all up...my dress is also strapless. She said it looks better with some down. Although my wedding is in April...I'm afraid my hair would bother me and/or frizz if I left it down. So...I'm going to do a second trial and do half-up half-down to see if I like it better. Good luck...I'm sure you will be a beautiful bride no matter how you wear your hair!

i have the opposite problem with my mom. i want down, she likes up. i agree with her that the dress really does call for an updo, however i am overly self conscious about my ears (they are pretty much perpendicular to my head) and i hate myself in photos where they show. so i will experiment with different styles and go with what i feel most comfortable with...

your hair looked great, i would go for the updo in your case...

The thing is - I prefer my hair down - I always have - I think I do look prettier with my hair down - but I thought I SHOULD wear it up because of the reasons I mentioned in the first post - so now - since my mom said she didn't like it - I'm starting to think that I would look better with my hair down! I guess I'll have to do another trial half up half down- or something. I haven't even looked for any pics like that cause I wasn't thinking I would do that!

Ohhh I thought you looked gorgeous - BUT here is my take - IMO YOU have to be happy with it - if you are not excited and you don't love it then you should not do it. But I know mothers mean well but you need to evaulate - whether you trust her judgement and IF you agree with that judgement. IF you love it and it is the hairstyle YOU love then go for it and don't let anyone change your mind - IF you aren't sure about it - why don't you try another trial and see if another style would better flatter you

I also think your hair trial was gorgeous, but I don't think there are any 'rules' when it comes to wearing your hair with a certain dress, etc. It sounds like you are a little uncomfortable with your hair up, though ... don't put it up if you think you 'HAVE' to!! You'll look beautiful either way!!

My mom and dad HATE my hair down, but that's not the reason I'm having an updo. I actually prefer my hair down, but since I'm also getting married in the summer I'm going for an updo ... I just don't want to think about my hair frizzing up all day, ya know?

That said, you will look beautiful whatever you decide. Trust me
