Mom is scheduled for surgery on 9/14/05!!

Finally the cancer surgery has been scheduled. It is a blessing considering a few weeks ago the doctors thought she was not strong enough to tolerate such a procedure. I am happy to know that the cancer will be removed but I am very fearful of her having surgery. Mom is remarkably maintaining her high spirits, however, last night I broke down and was crying hysterically to FH. It has been a crazy road and I am sure it will continue to be such for some time. thanks for listening.

Hang in there. You need to be strong for her. It's ok to break down and show your emotions but take heart that she will be fine. I had a very similar thing happen about 10 years ago with my mom and a brain tumor. It was the scariest thing I have ever experienced and I prayed a lot and talked to G*D a lot. She came through and she was tougher than I ever gave her credit for.

As nerve recking (sp?) as it may be, stay positive, stay strong and know that your mom has come a long way and she will make it through this as well. I will keep you, your mom and your whole family in in my thoughts and prayers.

Jaime, I know it must be tough, but try to be as strong as possible for your mom. She soudns like a remarkable woman! You will be in my prayers! Keep us updated!

Awww, I know you're nervous, but I'm sure the surgery will be fine. Is it breast cancer? My FMIL had breast cancer 3 years ago, and she went through the whole thing: lumpectomy, chemo, and radiation as well as reconstructive surgery. So if you have any questions, feel free to FM me.

The fact tht your mom is in good spirits means everything. Try to be positive when you are around her. This is a tough time for you, but remember, cancer today is not the same as it was 20 years ago - it's curable, and even if follow up is needed, people are able to lead healthy and happy long lives.

Lots of and support coming your way. It is scary and overwhelming and you will get through it. You can definitely lean on me for support! I am praying for her and believe that she will come out of this stronger than she was before!
