Re: mom vent
wow. This site makes me really realize how different all of our mom's are yet how they all find their own ways to drive us up a wall.
I feel like you can do either extreme. 1. totally stop talking to her about your wedding so you don't have to hear her talk about her 'future' wedding. Or 2. Outright say that right now the only thing you want to talk about is your wedding. When it's time for her wedding then you guys can talk about that.
Part of me feels like she might not know what else to say though in response to you. People always talk about themselve when they don't know what else to talk about.

I'm sorry I don't have any words of wisdom but I'm SO sorry you are going through this! That is terrible for your mom to do that! With the details, just tone it down by telling her. While you're excited and want to tell your mother, think of it this way, what's more upsetting, telling her or not telling her? As for the spot light thing? No matter what, you will DEF be the spot light at the wedding and if other family members see that she's doing something she shouldn't, they will DEF make sure that you'll be the BRIDE and not her!
good luck!

Re: mom vent
It sounds like your mom is super jealous of your wedding. If it was me I would stop giving her a chance to make me feel that way. Talk less about the wedding, but as it got closer I would be really honest with her and emphasize that it was my wedding. Sorry I hope everything works out.

Re: mom vent
I hear you on the frustrations. My best advice would be to sit her down and tell her your feelings on the whole thing, if she still dismisses it I would then just say leave her out of everything and when she asks why she is so left out you can tell her that if she wants to be the trophy and not the mom then that is how things will be treated. (sorry if that sounds a little harsh)
