Mommies and Mommies -to-Be who are teachers...

Are there any precautions you have taken since you come into contact with children and their germs everyday??? I ask this as I just got home from a field trip where I was trying to help a little girl from a colleagues class who wasn't feeling well on the bus and well I felt her forehead to see is she was hot, only to be told from her teacher that she has had a 'lice-under her skin' disease two times this year and just came in this morning with decrees clearance. Anyway, I got really scared and after scrubbing by hands with sanitizing wipes wondered what I could do/take to avoid getting sick.

TIA--This is my 1st pregnancy and I am a bit nervous!

I'm a mommy-2-B and a teacher as well. I have a bunch of sneezing, vomiting, germy kids....23 of them. I usually keep the windows in my classroom open so the room is cool. Germs spread in the warm weather. I also try not to touch the kids or their belongings. Other than that I'm okay. But, my first year teaching I got sick alot until I started taking a chewable vitamin c pill everyday. Washing your hands often is also a plus.
Good luck!!

I'm a special ed administrator for severly disabled students, you can't imagine the amount of germs in my school. I recommend those anti-bacterial soaps that don't require water. I always keep a bottle in my office & share with staff all the time. Warning though, they tend to be very drying so using a hand moisturizer daily is recommended.

I wash my hands VERY WELL after every class. They know I am pregnant and I explained to them (since they are 12) that I cannot take a lot of medicine (it came up one day when I had a headache and they kept telling me to take asprin) and they know that if they are 'sick' they have to stay away from my desk and not touch me. I feel awful but I have to do what I have to do.

Be careful too because there is a NASTY NASTY NASTY stomach virus going around.

Also if you do not have in immunity to Fifths disease make sure you let the school nurse know that you would like to be informed if there are any cases of it IMMEDIATELY.
