Mommy and baby need to sleep!!!

Mommy and baby need to sleep!!!

Hi everyone... I don't know what to do??? It's been going on for a while now, but it's gradually getting worse. Caiden is ready for bed around 9:00pm. Not so bad considering it used to be 11:00pm. Well, to start off with, he will not just go to sleep in his crib. He has to be asleep before I can lay him in there. After that happens he'll just wake up throughout the night. ALL NIGHT LONG!!! Whether it's 20 minutes after I lay him down, or maybe an hour, but it's all night. He'll just wake up crying, screaming, etc. Sometimes I can put the pacifier in his mouth and he'll go back to sleep, that will only work once or twice, otherwise I have to pick him up and nurse him. I know he's not hungry everytime, he just does it for comfort. I've tried everything. He will only nurse back to sleep. Mommy is just not getting any sleep!!! I've tried letting him cry, but he is just the most dramatic baby! He has tears instantly, and he cries so hard so fast, that it sounds like he's hurt! I can't even get a few hours at a time. He's 8.5 months old now, and I just thought by now he'd be sleeping somewhat? What can I do??? I'm exhausted!

I don't know if this is a good idea (long term) but they have these co-sleeper things on the market now that 'safely' lets the baby sleep in w/you. If he's looking for comfort, this might be a solution. I know I'm going to have a nightmare time w/Amber because she occassionally wakes up during the night and as long as she sees me, she's okay. I can't imagine what problems we're going to have when she has to be moved to her crib, etc.

Is his crib in your room? That might be an idea for now.

I know how you feel. Sleep deprivation is horrible....

Have you tried the 'No Cry Sleep Solution'??

I really don't want to use the co-sleeper... I think it would make things worse in the long run. Might be better for now, but not later. He's been sleeping in his crib in his own room since he was 2 months old, so he knows his crib!

kptoys...

I think someone gave me that book, but I haven't read anything yet! Is it really good? Could you tell me in a short version of how the 'No Cry Sleep Solution Works?'

Thanks girls!

Re: Mommy and baby need to sleep!!!

I tried part of the book with Emma when she would do the same thing. She was a co sleeper till she was about 14 months.

The part I used was nurse her when she wanted then when the sucking slowed to remove the boob. If she fussed again give it back but once the sucking slowed again to remove it. Keep doing that till the baby sleeps. After a few days he will realize that its really not worth it to nurse at night cause its too much work to get comfy then woken up again.

It also has advice about getting him to sleep by himself without CIO. Which I couldnt make her do.

It has different sections for different ages... use what pertains to you. I liked it. Heck when you are sleep deprived anything is worth a try!!

Melissa- read the book your friend gave you. You cannot understand the book in a few sentences.

Have you thought that maybe he is teething? Can you be reverse nursing? Sometimes babies do that when they are in daycare.
