Moms of 8-month old babies...

What are your babies doing as far as moving around? I have read in various books that babies should be crawling by now, and Nick is not even close to doing that! He makes no attempts to even get on his hands and knees or move around much at all! He does love to jump, but that is about it. He cannot get into the sitting position from laying down either....He also does not try to hold his own bottle or drink from sippy cups, etc. He did eat a whole piece of bread, and also eats those Gerber puffs. He says Mamamamama and Babababa and likes to razz and SHOUT.
I will speak to the ped. at his 9-month appt., but I was just curious as to what other babies are doing.

Not a mom, but I used to work with infants at a day care, and we had one little girl who just had no desire to sit up or crawl. I think she did sit up at about 8 months or so, and then just scooted on her bottom at about 10 months. She never crawled.

Last I saw her she was 2 years old and walking fine. She just got a late start.

It's probably nothing, but I would ask your pediatrician.

Jenna is about 8 1/2 months and just started full crawling everywhere about a week ago. Then yesterday I found her standing up in her crib.
She'ss drink from a sippy when she wants to but mostly likes to chew on it or throw it

Marissa started to crawl toward the end of her 7 month and she has been sitting up since was 5 months she pulling herself up. She holds her bottle when she wants to. Will not drink out of a sippy ccup but will drink out of a water bottle go figure.

I wouldn't worry about it my couisns son never ever crawled he didn't do m uch of anything until he wa about a year old theat when he started to walk other then that he just sat on the floor and would do nothing.

Your son sounds just like my Anthony. He will be 8 months on the 27th. He is doing everything including eating the Gerber puffs. He does occasionally hold his own bottle and he says 'dog', dada and 'zaza' but we don't know what zazaz is
i am worried about the crawling as well. i thought for sure by now he would be doing it but he shows no desire. the moment he is on his belly he freaks. he sits up very well but cant get to that position on his own. i have read that crawling is not a big milestone and if they don't do it it is not a big deal. i bet our sons will just stand up and walk by the time they are 1!!

OK - I have come to the conclusion that Nick is simply lazy!!
