Mom's Turn!

Mom's Turn!

Need some opinions... I have my gown, my girls are going to orders there this month or next month and we planned on having my mom start to look in April. BUT -- April 3rd she is having major back surgery (which by the way, I'll need lots of hugs and good thoughts that day. I'm already nervous about it!) She will be on strict bed rest until middle May. Then another 4-8 weeks of home rest, she's not supposed to be in a car-could get hurt or something. Is July-ish too late for her to order her gown?? I want her to feel beautiful in the gown and the surgery will help, so I'd like to wait for her to be healed...I just don't know. Should I rush her out and get her one this month?? It might fit her differently after the surgery... I just am not sure -- thoughts girls??

Hmm, with that much bedrest in store for her, I would wait to order her gown. I would hate for you to choose a beautiful gown for her now and later have it be uncomfortable on her or hurt her back or be too tight in case she gains a bit.

I am an October bride too and I was told it would take about 3 months for certain MOB dresses and 1 month for alterations. I'm SURE there are other designers that take less time, so if you go in early July and choose a dress for her and order, I think you'll be more than ok!

Maybe you guys can go this month to try on different styles and get an idea of what your mom likes, what looks good on her, etc. That way in July it's easier to choose a dress.

You'd be surprised - maybe she'll find a dress right away that she loves and you can just re-try it on in July to order!

I was told need to order 3 months in advance. It takes 2 months to come in and about 1 for alterations

I would wait, you have plenty of time and you don't want to rush it and not have it fit, that will make her feel horrible on top of the surgery.

My mother already had bought her gown. This past weekend she changed her mind, and doesn't want to wear it, so we had to go looking for another one . Mind you I'm getting married in LESS than 2 months. We went to my bridal salon, found an absolutely gorgeous dress, and it will be in, in 2 weeks. If not, their not even charging me for rush delivery. I know my case is not the same, but yoou can always pay a rush fee (50-75 bucks). Not to say you want to do that, but with your moms condition, you want to look out for her best interest and health first! Good Luck.

First........ for your mom and her surgery. Everything will turn out for the best!

I think you'll have enough time to order her gown. Maybe get her to look in magazines to get some ideas of what she might like, that way, you won't have to do too much travelling with her. That might make it easier for her and you

Don't stress too much though. I understand surgery is always a worrisome thing......but just remember, she is in all of our prayers!!!

Good luck!
