mom's wedding wisdom

Things I've learned from Mom over the last few months.

Saturday day weddings are stupid. Not bc of the $, or bc Jews don't have them then, just bc.

BUT...it's ok to have a 3 day event for a wedding if you can afford it. Then the Saturday day part is classy...especially if it's on Martha's vineyard.

Having a non denominational officiant is weird. People will talk about that one...and that will be bad.

Fitted dresses are slutty.

Dresses with colored sashes or dresses in a unique color are ugly and tacky.

Jews do not do favors...ever.

Your mom would hate my wedding.

I've hear the favor thing before, but there are a lot of cultures that do it.

I've gotten things like 'the Irish don't do engagement parties'

'Favors are tacky'

in the end do what you want

oh I guess you guys have figured out that I usually go against everything she says.

wait til she sees my pumpkin centerpieces.

and i always make the situation worse..like instead of saying, 'well Mom, your wedding was in 1966. things have changed.'

I say things like, 'wow, so I guess you're not going to like the hanging decapitated spinning heads I'm hanging up.'

or...'I'm having a stripper theme Mom. There's gonna be pole dancing and everything.'
