I ahave my own interior design business...I actually started it because I, like you, was caring for my mom. The flexability was great owning my business so I could be with my mom.

Hobbies....when I have time....scrapbooking seems to be what I am into now! The wedding planning is taking up lots of time now!

Hi Katiesmom!!!
Thanks for sharing!!! Is your Mom still with us?
Do you have training in Interior Design, or are you self taught? I love HGTV, and really enjoyed watching Design Star!! How long have you been a designer? Will you be helping your Daughter design their apt./house? Are your tastes like/different from your Daughter's?
Before Scrapbooking came into vogue, I had my own unique way of doing it. I keep everything: cards, thankyou notes, etc. It really is a family history, of sorts! I'm sentimental!! Today, I bought all kinds of stickers, to help Deb put her Optimist Scrapbook together. I found free scrapbook page downloads, that will be great for her book! And,I've been collecting all kinds of wedding/honeymoon
related stickers, and want to get Deb and Fred a Wedding Scrapbook, to put things in. Are you currently working on any special scrapbook project?

Hi...thank you for asking, but no, my mom passed away in 2/05 . It was what started me to scrap...I think I just needed to be seeing those pictures again and again. I just finished both of my childrens' albums from birth to five...and now am continuing to the next ones. I want to start one of all the wedding things...planning, engagement, shower, etc.

I went to school for the designing...it took a few years part time. I have helped Katie with her condo that she is living in now. I also helped my stepdaughter with her new home. I really enjoy it!

Hi KATHY!!!!
My sympathy to you. My Baby Brother died in 2005, unexpectedly. He was 51yrs.
What 'cha' been up to today? My house is an HGTV project waiting to happen!!!!!!!!!!!! Our Son moved his apt. home from college three yrs. ago, and I'll never forget my Husband's words!! 'The attic's full, the basement's full, no more room!!'
I eagerly look forward to next June when Deb will take the rest of her things!! Our Son is in a rut right now, because he was in a bad accident, soon after he returned from college. He still has health issues, and restrictions on work, which prevent him from getting a good job, and moving out of here. So, I'm just biding my time, and dreaming of a organized house!! What styles do you and Katie like? Debi has a British West Indies/Carribean thing going on in her apt. Do you know how easy it is to get a round pineapple pedestal table with extra leaves? I know Chris Madden had one in the Penneys Catalog, but I don't know if it's still available or if it comes with extra leaves. Mary

Re: Moms , what do all of you do?

Sorry to hear of your brother's death and son's accident. My brother died also very young...43. It is tough.

My daughter and I like a transitional style...I also like a little country french. My clients have all different styles...each job is different so that makes it fun.

We were (hubby and I) working on the house today. We are going to take on a huge project here at our house...but it will have to wait until after the wedding. We are doing major reconstruction...better left to after the wedding...unfortunatley.

Try boyles.com or furniturelandsouth.com and search through the different manufactureres for tables that would be similar. The prices are great...people reliable.

Thanks, Kathy! Guess what? My Dad
died in 1971, at age 43, of a heart attack!!
I like Country French too!!
How exciting!!! What do you plan to remodel? The remodel job that I remember the most, was when we took out a sunroom, at a rancher we had lived in, and put a beautiful huge laundry room in. There were closets at either end of the room, on one wall, with a sit down sewing table in front of a double window, between the closets. Opposite that wall, were a sink/vanity, a huge cabinet, with huge pull out drawer, for dirty laundry, and a folding counter on top; The dryer was on the end. I don't remember if the washer was beside the dryer, or the sink/vanity. The countertops were colonial green; Boy, do I miss that room!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for the tips!!!!!!! Mary

Yes I can make tirimisu and so can Nina and Rosanna, in fact I think the two of them make it better than me. I do make most Italian food really good including pizza, pastas, meatballs, etc., but you know what it really takes to be a good cook.....LOVE! And I know you love your family!!!!

Hi it's nice to know someone who is into interior design.
I know how you feel being without your mom and trying to keep her memory alive because I try to do the same thing, but with cooking. I try to make the same dishes she made for holidays, birthdays, etc. My mom past away October 22, 1994 so it will be 13 years on Monday. It feels like yesterday that it happened and I still miss her. My dad went in Feb. 1969 so he never got to see my boys, but I know that him and my mom are watching over them. He would have loved having grandsons.....thank God my mom knew them and loved them and they had the chance to see how special she was.

Re: Moms , what do all of you do?

Hi yes it is not easy life without our moms. I also love to cook. I recreate alot of mom's favorite recipes and now I see my daughter following...that is the best part. The Christmas cookies are the most fun...I always remember those and my daughter and I have lots of fun making them.
My dad also died - 1968 I was really little. He would have loved my children as my mom did. My children were so lucky to have her for the time they did, she was delightful.

Hi, Kathy!!!!
Sorry your Dad is no longer with you!!
How was your day? The greatest compliment a Mom can get, is when her Daughter/s keep some of Mom's traditions going!!!!
What's your favorite dish, to prepare,
Kathy? Mary

So your dad died the year before mine did and yes I was very young too. My dad died in February 1969 so it may have just been months after yours died.
I love baking the Christmas cookies too and even though I have boys they loved to help make them too. They even like to do it now with their wives...such nice memories. I miss my mom and dad very much and it still feels like yesterday that they were here with us. Now we are all going to get emotional, but that is good too. Here's a for all of them.

Hi Mary...my day was just fine...thank you for asking. Busy busy! My daughter has no particular favorite to cook...or bake....she is quite adventurous and whatever she makes is a hit!
