moms...whats the best gift from your shower...

My absolute favorite gift is a one of a kind - a tabletop nightlight that my friend made at her pottery shop. It sits on the dresser top and it looks like a little cottage - it even has a little cat sitting on a mushroom and a few birds on the roof. It's so gorgeous, it looks so nice lit up and the detailing is unbelieveable. She even made a little plaque with Luke's name on it for over the doorway after he was born.

As far as a store bought gift, the best non-registry gift I got was a sherpa lined infant car seat cover. I never had to dress Luke in a snowsuit all winter, this just went over the car seat. It was wonderful.

I registered for a beautiful blanket at BuyBuy Baby and I got it. It is still my favorite blankie that Lukie owns. It's cotton so it was nice in the winter and even now when he's sleeping in the AC.

My best friend's grandmother handmade me a blanket for Paul's christening day...it is gorgeous and was very unexpected.

Yabbo you can DEFINITELY make a little blanket by November! Remember - it would be small!! Do you know how to knit or crochet? If I lived in darn LI I would teach you...

Do you have any yarn shops out there? They normally have classes...a blanket you'd have to learn only a limited amount...I think that is the best gift!

My sister knit this awesome cable knit blanket (she's advanced though ) and then knit these 6 animal fingerpuppets and tied two to each corner - SO cute!!!!!

I do know how to knit!! Should I try? or should I leave it to our alpha aunt? (she knitted a blanket for all of us for our showers)

I think you should try it. If that was me, I'd love it even if it wasn't perfect and I'm sure your cousin will too. But it'll probably come out wonderful

edited to add: I have all the Baby einstein's and the best ones, IMO, for smaller babies are baby Bach, Einstein (which I actually dislike for some reason lol), Mozart. Lukie likes the other ones more now but I thought those 3 were especially amazing at holding his interest when he was smaller and I think the boxes do say from 1 month up on those 3.

Elizabeth...I did get it!!

I got it in pink...its her favorite color...and they are 75% sure it will be a girl...and I got the 3-6...since I figured that she may want to take the baby for pics before Easter...about 3-4 months

I got Baby Beethoven and Baby Newton DVDs...
and a Baby Einstein Toy... (all from her registry...but I wanted something a little personal as well...)


Now I have to figure out how to wrap it!

best presents were my chicco XL stroller...chicco mamma highchair...and the hand made quilted cribset made by our very close family friend. she even made a valance to match the bed!

oh- and the britax roundabout car seat!
