I snapped yesterday while talking to her and telling her I will no longer be telling her any more details that we are planning for the wedidng. And now I feel bad, but its just been building up since we started looking at hall. I know she means well but shes driving me nuts!!! She's planning this big church princess wedding and that is the last thing that we are having. so whenever I tell her something I get this annoying look that she give or she'll just say 'o I dont like that' and I guess she just caught me at a bad moment and I snapped.
There is only so much you can bottle up....
Anyone else have a momzilla? Or am I just horrible for thinking this way....

My mother is definitely a momzilla. She has something to say about everything and wants things to be done HER way.

Oh no I'm sorry your feeling that way!
I have had my moments with my mom for sure. Yesterday my mom and I got into a fight over wedding stuff. I wanted FH to meet me half way down the asile. I think the symbolsem of him coming to meet me half way is really nice. My mom said that i was taking walking down the aisle all the way away from my father! I didnt know 2 more feet really ment that much to him. She made a whole stink of it. Also when i was trying on my dress, i tried on a pretty one first, and then tried on the dress i ended up getting 2nd. When i came out of the dressing room my mom said 'i dont know its pretty but i liked the first one better' i totally snapped and said ITS WHAT I LIKE MOM ITS NOT ABOUT WHAT YOU WANT' everyone was just kinda like whoa.. haha that was my only bridezilla moment.
When i sense us starting to butt heads over wedding things i just change the subject. The truth is your not going to be able to please eveyone!

Ah my mom can be one too. I just don't mention many details to her any more. She usually says 'Oh' and thinks I'm spending too much money but she doesn't understand how much weddings cost. Her wedding cause 2,000 and that was a lot back in her day! Most of my details are DIY. I'm spending less than $100 on invites lol

our mothers would get along PERFECT!!! so far every dress i've shown her online that i like she gives me this face that drive me nuts! or says something and then goes ahead and shows me this huge puffy princess dress, which i cant even think about the number of times i've told her i dont like. i havent even told her anything about music cause i know she will snap when i tell her we arent doing he tradition wedding song to enter to. my FH wants Metallica and if she knew that she would die lol
the last thing that happened that was my breaking point happened this weekend, first when i once again mentioned how i am making our flowers she snapped again cause i said 'i dont like a whole lotta flowers, they are expensive and usless.' and she said 'oo well i like flowers' - i dont care! i knnow i must sounds so mean and dont get me wrong im greatful that she's helping us and wants to be so involved, but shes starting to get to that point where she needs to take a step back

yep shes had that convo about money with me too! first she says things are soo much, then when i say im gonna DIY she turns around and says something about that. since i started picking up stuff here and there for the DIY list she will just say 'why so early' umm cause i'd rather buy it now 80% off and be done with it so i can relax later on then run around like a crazy woman lol

My mom has been a momzilla my whole life. Now she is finally chill and is letting me do whatever I want. Though she keeps rubbing in how untraditional I am .

I'm sorry your mom is being a momzilla
Luckily, in terms of decisions and details, my mom gives her opinion if asks but respects my decisions. Though, we've had a few fights because she's always too busy to talk about wedding stuff (she's a stay at home mom but very involved as the photographer for my little sister's grammar school - don't get me started haha) so when I bring it up when I see her and the family for dinners and things she doesn't want to talk about it. WHEN do you expect me to get things done if you NEVER want to talk! GRRR!
I pulled her aside one day and told her how I felt and that I would really appreciate it if she took some time to help me once in a while so we didn't have to obsess over it during family get togethers. She didn't feel like she was totally in the wrong but she agreed and she's been better.
Try having a chat with your mom and tell her you appreciate her help/opinions but ultimately its your wedding and you want to be able to do it your way. Have you explained the general vibe/theme you are going for to her? Maybe that would be a good start since she seems to be going in the wrong direction.

Re: Momzilla! - vent
I feel all of your pain - Keep in mind FH and I are paying for most of the wedding. She is helping a very little and throwing the e-party and Bridal party.
Here is my list of what mine has done
1. wanted to wear a dress that the top is white and bottom is black 2. She said to me 'Well after everyone looks at you they are going to be looking at me' 3. She said she wouldn't give me money for the wedding if the RSVP don't get to her house. 4. She isn't speaking to me b/c of invite wording - I want them to say ' The bride and groom along with there families invite you...' 5. Wants a list of the amount every person gives us at the wedding (Not so she knows what to give others, but to judge) 6. Gets mad b/c FH has a big family and she couldn't invite everyone to the e-party she wanted to- She wanted to invite relatives I haven't seen in years and would have no idea who they where if I ran into them in the streets and her random 'friends' 7. I want high flowers in creams and hints of yellows she says I should have low that is very colorful. 8. I want long gowns and she says how I should have short gowns.
Basically she wants it to be her wedding and wants all the credit.
I don't even know what to do about my crazy mother. I wish you all good luck.. We should setup at GTG for the mothers! so they can talk about how our weddings should be. lol

Awe! I so know that feeling of being pushed and then saying something at the moment and then being like, 'damn, why did I take the bait?!'
My mom passed a few yrs ago but she was nothing like a momzilla. Try to be grateful that at least shes there. Also, I usually find that if I try to change my reactions that eventually the situation changes and improves for the better. This has been my experience. Maybe try walking away every time she gets out of hand. Kind of like conditioning her that every time she starts up that she's only going to be entertaining her own company. I hope it all works out for you.
