Actress Kate Hudson and her husband, Black Crowes singer Chris Robinson, are splitting, PEOPLE has learned exclusively.
A rep for the You, Me and Dupree star confirms that the couple are separating after nearly six years of marriage.
Hudson, 27, and Robinson, 39, wed on New Year's Eve 2000 after dating for about a year. Their son, Ryder Russell, was born Jan. 7, 2004.
In September 2004, while shooting Skeleton Key in New Orleans, Hudson told PEOPLE about her relationship with Robinson since Ryder's birth: 'We're sharing something so gigantic now. I think it's the best we've ever felt being together.'

NO surprise last week when blink-182 drummer Travis Barker filed for divorce from his wife, former Miss USA Shanna Moakler. The couple, who star on MTV's 'Meet the Barkers,' have fought in public for months. One friend of Travis says he finally ended the marriage because 'Shanna is never home . . . She parties every night, sleeps until 1 p.m. every day, and doesn't spend nearly enough time with the kids. And on top of that there have been rumors she hasn't been faithful. He's had it.' Barker, via a rep, said, 'I'm sad to say those allegations are true . . . My priority will remain my children.' The couple have two kids together. But Moakler, via her rep, said: 'I have been 100 percent faithful in my marriage and a devoted mother, two facts of which Travis is well aware. I still happen to be very much in love with Travis, and his using the media to take low blows at me isn't just embarrassing, it's hurtful. I feel he should be putting his family first instead of his pride.' To which Barker responded, 'The truth will prevail.'

The acrimonious divorce battle between Charlie Sheen and Denise Richards is over – for now, according to a joint statement by their lawyers.
'Both parties have amicably resolved any outstanding issues on an interim basis,' Sheen's attorney, Lance Spiegel, said Monday outside a Los Angeles courthouse with Richards's lawyer, Neal Hersh, by his side.
However, the divorce has not been finalized.
Sheen, 40, and Richards, 35, were not present at the brief hearing, which took place in judge's quarters. Attorneys for both declined to comment on questions regarding whether a restraining order against Sheen would be extended or what the custody arrangements would be for the couple's daughters Sam, 2, and Lola, 1.
In an order of protection that expired today, Sheen was required to stay at least 300 yards from Richards and their daughters, except for supervised visits with the children.
Sheen and Richards wed in June 2002; Richards filed for divorce in March 2005 while pregnant with Lola.
Richards is now dating Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora, 47, while Sheen has been spotted with real estate investor Brooke Mueller, 28.

Courteney Cox and David Arquette seem to have one of the happiest marriages in Hollywood – and Cox says a trip to a therapist smoothed out a recent rough patch.
'We were just in Sardinia for a vacation,' Cox, 41, tells Life magazine in its new issue. 'We got into these fights two nights in a row over stupid stuff. But I could see how relationships break up if you don't go, 'What are we doing!?' So we went to a therapist, and he broke it down for us.
'He said, 'Courteney, can you see how David gets embarrassed to have any kind of public fight?' I don't scream, but I have no problem saying what I'm feeling in the moment. David's the opposite. So if I need to get something out, I have to say, 'David, can you come talk to me for a minute outside?' Had I done that, (the fights) wouldn't have gotten nearly as big.'
Another key to their seven-year marriage: 'We just really like each other,' Cox tells Life. 'He gets a kick out of me, and I get a kick out of him. We're a good balance for each other. He likes the fact that I'm so gregarious – although it can also make him very uncomfortable – and I like the fact that he is so sensitive. We're a great team.'
The mom to Coco, 2, and star of the upcoming sci-fi family film Zoom, also says she's started seeing a therapist on her own.
'My friend Laura Dern sat me down and said, 'Okay, this is going to be a big year for you; here's a list of things you need to do.' One of them was to write down all the things I liked about myself. She saw that I was being too frenetic – that I wasn't enjoying life as I should. I didn't know it, but she could see it as a friend. Then she said, 'I want you to go see my therapist.' I'm a great caretaker. But one thing I'm not good at is taking care of myself. My goal for this part of my life … is to be more nurturing to myself.'
As she approaches 42, Cox says she feels more confident, although she admits 'aging isn't for sissies. … People who read a magazine can look at the picture and go, 'She looks great for over 40!' But guess what? That's not what I look like. Lighting is everything. When you're in your car and you look in the mirror and the sun's beaming in, you're like, 'Wow, times are getting tough.' '
And, as she recently told PEOPLE, she and Arquette are hoping for a second child. 'We're not trying yet,' she says. 'We're revving up the engines. I'm only ready 'cause time's a-ticking. If I was 34, I'd wait another year, because I like those three-to-four-year gaps. I want Coco to be helping me with the next one. One child is hard. Two is probably harder.'
