So I've thought about some questions and here's my first one - by the way, it's hard to think of a question that hasn't been asked already, SO if this has been done, lemme know!
**What is the BEST relationship advice you've ever GOTTEN? If you don't have an answer, GIVE your best advice now!**
My answer: my mom is a strong person, she's an individual and she knows what she wants in life. she's always taught me to know who i am and not to apologize for it. the right guy will understand it and it will work. and in other relationships, i didn't always listen to her advice and relationships did end in disaster because i lost who i was and let a guy change me. when i had had enough, i vowed i'd live my mom's advice and when i met FH, i laid it all out on the table - who i was, who i wanted to be, what i wanted. and oddly enough, that's the very thing that snagged his heart. i'm lucky my mom taught that to me.
and honestly, had she not given that advice to me, it's the advice i'd share with anyone now anyway :o)

You can't love anyone else until you love yourself first. It's so cliche and awful, but it is the truest thing I have ever heard. At least in my experience. I didn't love myself AT ALL and had a string of terrible relationships that didn't help me love myself ... spent some time alone ... worked on 'me' ... and when I met FH, then I was ready. And it was instantaneous. So I happily pass along this advice to anyone who will listen.

Re: ****Monday's QOTD :o) ****
I think the best relationship advice I ever got was from my dad, believe it or not. He always encouraged me to be independent, and to never feel like I have to 'chase' any one (either a boyfriend or a friend). If I ever got into a fight with someone, he'd say take some time apart to sort out your feelings. He also advised me to never let go of my girlfriends once I get involved with a guy. He and my mom are major social butterflies and have their own activities and friends, but they make a lot of time for one another. They go out ALL the time, they go into the city for concerts, museums - they travel whenever they're able to... they're literally one another's best friend. Tomorrow they'll be married 35 years!

Re: ****Monday's QOTD :o) ****
My grandmother sat us down a few months ago and told us that the most important thing in life and for longevity in a relationship is to always be able to laugh together and at each other. And to never go to bed angry. And she said if you do go to bed angry, to wake up not angry.
She passed away in February and I have some amazing memories of her talking with me and FH about the future and how to make a marriage last. She and my grandfather were together 63 years before he passed away 2 years ago.
Great question!!! It made me smile so much to recall this!

My mom always tells me that no matter how frustrated I may get or how mad they might make me to never ever say a bad thing about his friends or family because even if he is annoyed by them too, its still his family and that I should always love them as if they were my own. I see how my parents love eachothers family and how close and happy that makes everyone.

At my shower they did 'advice' cards one of them (they were annonymous) said
Never go to bed angry And never say no to sex.
Lol it was funny and I think it was from an older person based on handwriting samples lol

Some of the best advice i have ever heard was from my mom. She told me that when men act stupid just to give them space and let them just cool off on their own. So true even though sometimes i don't listen to it lol.

Always Enjoy each others company is a good one, but the best i ever got was:
Always give 100 percent.some people say relationships are 50 give and 50 take, but if both of you give 100 of yourself and make 100 together, your relationship will only prosper-------- i heard this from grandparents of friends who have been together for 64 years!

My dad always told me...take care of myself first, then everyone else. My mom always said to get an education and have myself taken care of that way I NEVER had to rely on anybody else. Great paretns I have

I think the best thing I was ever told was be yourself.
Dont loose who YOU are in the relationship and you can grow together.

It's okay to have some time to yourself--you don't ALWAYS need to be together.

dont take yourselves too seriously
believe it or not at pre cana this past weekend the couple was telling us about their 'friends' (i bet its really them). Whenever they begin to fight about something they get totally naked and talk it out- bc who can fight and be super angry when youre naked???
totally insane

Re: ****Monday's QOTD :o) ****
like someone else stated earlier , my Dad always says to each give 100% tot he relationship in order to make it work..
my Mom always reminds me that marriage is just like any close relationship- it takes work. the more you put in, the more you will get out of it.
my own philosophy that I have developed for myself in my relationship with FH that I am trying to remember... is to go easy on him and treat him with the same respect and love that I want him to give to me. usually remembering that helps when I'm aggravated about something.
