money bag
Re: money bag
I found mine at Hallmark. I think any card store or wedding supply store should have them. Hope this helps.

Re: money bag
My cousin made mine (she's very crafty) and gave it to me at my bridal shower, she said that it was very easy. However, I feel kind of funny using one. I know that it is tradition, but I feel as though I might as well be wearing a sign pointing to the money bag and that says 'Deposit your money here'. Am I wrong in this? I don't want to hurt my cousin's feelings. I really wanted to just have a box that resembles a present that I could slip the envelopes into (got the idea on this board).

Re: money bag
i have been to weddings where they use a bird cage. i don't think it is an actual bird cage, but a fancy looking one that has decorations on it. people can come up and slip the envelopes between the little bars.
Re: We had a Money 'Mailbox'
It was a beautiful handcrafted mailbox, with white trim, beads etc. I personally felt it was tacky to carry around a money bag and I've actually seen people dance with it! We placed the mailbox on our table and it worked like a charm...EVERYONE..came up to put their envelopes in, right after our first dance! Guests want to get rid of it right away, just not to forget or just to make sure the bride and groom have it in case a guest wants to sneak out early without having to say good bye.

I had such a surprise the other day, I went into my baptismal stuff, bc I thought I remembered somone saying you can make something 'old' out of some of that stuff, and there was an antique looking money bag in there and a garter. Turns out my first cousins late grandmother made that stuff for all the girls after their cristening, out of lace from their hat and their baptismal blanket. This is invaluable, I am so touched that I have this!
