I have been engaged since 10-10-08. My FH and I are youngins and are trying to save money wherever we can.
We live together, and last summer we bought a beautiful bottle necked thick glass decorative jar/vase and we have been throwing our coins in it.
From July 2009 - Dec 2009 we saved 340 dollars in coins! We then ordered our STDs which were only 110 dollars - meaning we have (on top of the coins already in the jar) 230 dollars for invites already
I suggest that all you ladies ditch the plastic and start paying for petty things in cash and stashing the coins and a single here ans there away - before you know it last min purchases will have to be made, and a couple hundred bucks can strech a long way!

Re: Money saving tip - not a joke!
we do the same. We've rolled about 500 dollars in the last 8 months or so. My fiance also heard another way of saving money that he saw on the news. He puts any 5 dollar bill he gets as change into an envelope. He has saved about 200 in the last two months!

I do that too. I've been meaning to take it to the bank but it's so damn heavy lol
Last time I made a few hundred dollars, and this time it's more full.

HAHAHAHA!
I thought FH and I were the only ones who did this. We have two of the gigantic Foldgers Coffee containers and we stash coins and bills in there.
I don't know how much money we have exactly but every penny counts!
At least I know I'm not the only one penny pinching!!
Kudos!

I really thought I was the only one who did that. FH and I did that and paid for the wine for our engagement party this past JULY. Saving your change is a great idea.

haha ok so glad to know we aren't the only ones! lol we jsut cashed in about 450 in coins and we also save the $$ from bottle returns (our house seems to be the meeting/hangout place sometimes for all our friends) I felt soo funny doing this, but every penny counts!!!!!
I used to save the singles from change and things too... that adds up quickly! Maybe I will start that with 5's!

Re: Money saving tip - not a joke!
FH and I do the same exact thing. And he seriously comes home with so much change throughout the day it's crazy! But we save out change in this glass jar and cash it in right before we go on the annual cruise with FILs. We always wind up with a big chunk of spending $$ (or $$ for the casino - whichever lol)
