Mongram Question-- for a gift!

When doing a monogram for one person- how should it be written out for a person names First Middle Last:

OR

FLM

I've always seen it as First Last Middle

i think it depends on if the middle letter is going to be bigger than the others.

Hmmm... If they're all the same size, it'd be First Middle Last. That's 'personalized' and is what most tote bags, etc use (not sure if the gift, you don't specify).

If you're actually doing a monogram, where the center letter is larger than the rest, it's First, Last, Middle.

ETS: Monograms are usually reserved for a couple or a single letter (that of the last name). On a gift, it is usually personalized, which is the first suggestion.
