Monitor ?

OK - now I need opinions on the TV vs. sound only monitor? My sister has the sound only and keeps telling me how you really need the TV - I can see it if you live in this big house - it's easy enough for me to walk a couple of feet to the baby's room to check - or run up the stairs -
A few people at my husbands job swear by it -
What do you think?
I feel there are so many expensive items on my registry already - I hate to add this one too -
Do you think the sound monitor is just as good?

I will give you my opinion on this, since my hubby and I just had this conversation the other night! LOL!

My son is 7 months old now, and so far, we've been living in tiny apartments with 1 or 2 bedrooms. In both cases, the baby's crib is in our bedroom, so he has never been very far away from us. We opted in the beginning to use the sound only monitor - we have the Crisp & Clear Plus 900 Mhz Monitor by The First Years.



We have been VERY satisfied with this monitor since we got it. The only glitch we had happened when we first used it. There are two different channels that you can use, and b/c the frequency is just like most popular cordless phones (900 Mhz), we were picking up our neighbor's phone conversation. We laughed a little, and switched the channel and it hasn't happened since.

However, since we will be moving to a house soon, we've been discussing the need for the TV monitor. Not only will we have two floors in the home, but the baby will be in his own room for the first time. Sometimes he wakes in the middle of the night and needs us to help him find his 'binky' or 'Nuk' and put it back in his mouth. Other times, he's just stirring in his sleep and doesn't need us to help him. It would be nice to have the TV screen to assess what's going on in the crib. Once we're in the house, we'll have to decide for sure. I would say you should get whichever one you think your needs will dictate a value for.

I have a 5 month old daughter and I use the sound only dual receivers from Graco. They work great... I live in a 2 story 4 bedroom house and I was in the other room one night and I could hear DD breathing thats how clear they are!

The only thing negative Ive heard about the TV monitor is the clarity of the picture. If you go to babiesrus.com you can get the reviews of all the monitors and help you make that decision.
