Montauk Club in Brooklyn - anyone have info?

Just getting in from seeing 'The Incredibles' and a friend said he and his wife considered this place, Montauk Club in Brooklyn. They ended up in Manhattan with a very intimate wedding but he said Montauk Club was reasonable?

Thanks in advance for the info.

I originally booked the Montauk Club for my 2002 wedding. We happened to find out accidently (meaning the club did not inform us!) that we were not going to be able to play music in their main room. When i called them to verify they told me 'oh you can just have your band play in the hallway downstairs'.....confirming that they knew about the rule changed and just didnt think to tell us. After hearing that there was no way we could have had the wedding there and they were quite a pain to deal with in getting our money back. All around unprofessional.

I had to rearrange my entire wedding about 9 months before the date. I was lucky that i was able to find someplace on the same date but we came very close to eloping!

Im sure the rules are more clearly stated now that they have been in existance for a while...and maybe they have changed management...so its up to you to decide but my experience was a warning.

I walk by it every day on my way to the subway -- It's a beautiful building. It's currently under scaffolding - if you talk to them, ask when the work will be done.

Here's their website:Montauk Club

Thanks Stef. That's awful that they did not even bother to tell you about the rules changing.

I'll check them out and see if they still have that no music rule for the main room.

I used to work there PT on the weekends as the receptionist when I graduated HS.

How does it look now, because when I worked there in '97 it didn't look so great.

It is beautiful from the outside.

I'm not sure. I have not seen the place yet. I called this morning and learned that they are only open from Wednesday to Sunday.
