Has anyone done/doing this? I am trying to plan my best friend's bach party and I am trying to come up with places to stay & things to do. Guerneys Inn is full, but we would prefer a place like this.

Re: Montauk or Hamptons Bachlorette Party
I've been out to Montauk a few times. If you're looking for relaxing and low key this is your place. It's not going to have the night life and crowds of the Hamptons. I personally love Montauk, but if you're looking for the bars and clubs the Hamptons is the way to go.
Also, be careful of the hotels out there. Most of them are older, so what you see on the web-site is not what you're really getting. They can also be very pricey, even if it's just a motel. I'd check the Trip Advisor reviews (http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotels-g48194-Montauk_New_York-Hotels.html)
For nicer ones try the Montauk Manor or the Montauk Yacht Club. Although, neither of these are on the beach, but they're in walking distance.

Great advice. Montauk does have a night life, but it is not as crazy as the Hamptons.
We're doing Montauk for mine and staying at the Beachcomber. Royal Atlantic and Surf Club are also nice, but if you're going during peak, be prepared to stay AT LEAST two nights.

They are both great. Montauk is more low key..if you are looking for the whole party scene def do the Hamptons.
You can check out the East Hampton Inn, it's not on the water, but it's close to the village. I would also look into Hampton Bays if you want to do the club scene.

Montauk, hands down. It's so fun and laid back. Try the Royal Atlantic or Beachcomer, the Panaromic is supposed to also be nice. Never stayed there though. You can also look into renting a house for the weekend! As for the beach, def go to Ditch Plains. It's the nicest one and for your single friends, it's where all the hot surfer go! haha. The Pink Tuna cab service will take you anywhere you want to be. As for nightlife, it changed each night. Just ask around and you will see where everyone is hanging out. Also, be sure to have breakfast at Joanie's, best breakfast wraps and smoothies in the universe! Gosman's has the world's best lobster bisque. Taking a trip up into the lighthouse is also a good time, you can also do a golf trip or fishing trip one day. FM me with anymore questions :O)

Re: Montauk or Hamptons Bachlorette Party
okay well i grew up in montauk so feel free to ask anything you want. since Gurneys is full... i would check into the montauk yacht club or The Manor. Both i believe provide a free shuttle to and from where you want to go. There is also, Port Royal motel which is right on the beach. The rooms are decent and i believe its $105 a night with a 2-3 night stay requirement. But they include a complimentary full free breakfast each day.
I'm a little confused by previous posts though. why is montauk not as crazy as the hamptons? And what particular part in the hamptons are they talking about? (i'm just thinking out loud here). To each their own, but i happen to think that Montauk is very crazy and is the place to go for a bachelorette, especially since you can walk all around town from bar to bar instead of driving or taking cabs. For bars... i'd recommend first going to Oyster Pond, than The Point, and ending up at Lakeside. Those are the usual stops. But don't expect to see a lot of people out in the bars until around 11 or midnight. If you need anything else, feel free to ask.

I agree with the previous poster. I worked in Montauk for 5 summers and have been going out there since I was 4. ALL of the partying that I EVER did was in Montauk!
Most places to stay in Montauk aren't high luxury, but they are beautiful nontheless. I would say Montauk as well, b/c there isn't as much of a 'scene', it is stil popular, but it isn't in the same way that the Hamptons are.

I agree with aliwnec10. I also grew up in Montauk. I would check out The Montauk Yacht Club, they have done some renovations over the winter, so it should be even nicer. They do provide free shuttle services. The Soundview Hotel is also nice and affordable. It's in walking distance to Gosman's and the restaurants and bars in that area. (2 night stay requirement for almost all hotels.) However, if you want real good seafood I would go to Dave's Grill or Harvest.
Montauk is just as fun crazy as the Hamptons, in fact it's part of the Hamptons. You just have to know where and when to go. I recommend exactly what aliwnec10 does for bars.
Hope this helps.

Try this link for help with accomodations: http://www.onmontauk.com/lodging.html. All the ones listed above are really nice.
Montauk is a lot of fun - there's a definite night life. I think of the Hamptons as Manhattan on LI, and some of the clubs are really overpriced. Montauk is more your Long Island type bars - at least from my experience.

Thanks everyone for your help! My friend is like Charlotte from Sex and the City. I think she might do better in the Hamptons...even though I would much prefer Montauk.
